You do for me, I like the video though! Haha. Nice girls ;) Harhar

Actually, it reminds me of the "Just the two of us" clip from Austin Powers. This one isn't as funny though, but, ok I suppose. Is it an actual song, and from who?

Ps.: Looking very forward to the movie!

There are unwritten laws in the COR community, held by those that didn't just level the job out of AF novelty:

You are allowed to like Pirates of the Carribean.
You are allowed to say things such as "yar" and "aye" at times.
You may speak in Setzer-isms.

But you do not post links to PotC stuff, ever. Not unless you want undead monkeys set on fire and let loose in your house.

Corsairs were NOT PIRATES!

So government-sanctioned raids on foreign merchant vessels isn't piracy?

Gambler is not a pirate, but Corsairs steal from an empire that subjugated and usurped their kingdom. They might not be recognized as their former royalty, but stealing from the Empire still makes them pirates. Its sanctioned by Prince Luzaf tho, so they're really Corsairs.

Its a matter of perspective. I only steal from and harass Aht'Urghan for taking my kingdom, so I'm a corsair. But to the immortals, I'm a pirate.

I've kidnapped an opera singer before. I'm not excomunicated, am I?

No, you're doing a fine job. Carry on.

Definition of pirate

someone who robs at sea or plunders the land from the sea without having a commission from any sovereign nation

they have comission from themselves, so not pirates lol

As I stated, I'm a corsair. My nation is sovereign, my actions are sanctioned by a prince.

Aht'Urghan doens't recognize my nation, they STOLE IT, so to them I'm a pirate for stealing from them. But they call me a Corsair anyway.

Just let her be a pirate! Hehe.
I think it's not weird to think that Corsair's were made to give a "Pirate"-feeling.

They aren't really anything. They're gamblers, slightly modified to keep whiny people from bitching, and given spiffy hats so we can all make Pirate Vs. Ninja jokes. End of story.

Well, we ARE gamblers above all else, have to have something to do without a kingdom. Plus we didn't get the airship with a casino below decks.

Man, if FFXI had ships the size of real life cruise ships, that would be amazing...

I mean, it would also take like five expansions of mostly the same three cabins with a few casinos and restaurants, but still.

I think that's actually a good idea. A sort of "Minigames" ship? Where you go on, you can sit on tables, eat various food (for a little amount of gil), play casino games alone or with eachother, and such things. It would enlarge the "freedom" in Ffxi. Oh and also, I think especially the RP players would love it, or something like that.

Hmmm so corsairs were privateers? Yeah sounds right.

Stop having ideas.

We've turn the whole pirate vs ninja thing into a pirate vs gambling, sanctioned thief.

In real life, corsair is just another name for pirate. They were the Pirates of the Mediterranean. They sailed mostly from the Barbary coast of North Africa, which also means that the term Barbarian is another word for a corsair.

In FFXI, there's the whole distinction based on how you look at it, which is fine. It gives the impression that one man's insurgent is another's freedom fighter.

Corsair, Pirate, Barbarian, anything's fine by me so long as you're buying the rum.

According to this Wiki entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbarian), the origin of the word "barbarian" is βάρβαρος (Bárbaros), meaning "non-Greek speaking people", whose meaning later changed to "uncivilized people".

Reinbach

Yes, non-Greek speaking people lived on the Barbary coast, that's for sure. Corsairs were considered Barbarians, but not all Barbarians were corsairs. Still, the term applies. If you were on the sea, sailing toward Jerusalem to kill some Muslims and were attacked by pirates, the terms were interchangeable. That's the point I'm trying to make.

Now where's my rum?

Corsairs were NOT PIRATES!

About time I saw someone other than myself having actual knowledge of that fact.

Corsair =/= Pirate
(To be specific, the terms that are used to differentiate the two groups within Vana'diel. Pirates are the Norg guys that attack the ferry. Corsairs harass Aht Urghan. The two words are used as titles more than for their actual definition.)

Pay attention to FFXI's plot, people. All the answers are there.
