Have you tanked Charybdis?

I'm thinking about enlisting a THF friend to help tank Charybdis. I was wondering if anyone has first hand experience tanking this sucker, so I could get some info on your gear setup.

I'd try and tank it myself, but since my evasion as a WAR is so low, I'd need a whole lot more support than my friend would. I figure my usefulness in the fight will be limited to firing occasional acid bolts and blind bolts.

I really want to do this for my ls in hopes of like parry skillups, but want better gear first.
I guess close to ideal setup would be like:
4 eva merits and 4 enmity+
Brd hooking you up with mambo
W/e weapon you want? (+eva dagger Khimaira jamibya or w/e?)
Any offhand you want, although I might use a tatami for eva/intimidation
Unger?
Ohat
Eva torque
Eva earring + elusive?
Sh+1 i guess
Those ex windy hands that give +10 eva skill
W/e rings you want I guess
Boxers
Scouters
What pants give +eva? I use crow/raven soloing, but the -enmity might be bad
Dance+1
Thf eva caps at 276 normally.

My friend has tanked it a few times. He had about 3 ppl healing him though, just in case. It got scary once but thats nothing new for us. He pretty much tanks everything we fight.

I tanked it a few times as Nin and with a bard + rdm and he is not a very hard fight. He had around a 80% miss rate on me and I had no problems going from Ni to Ni.

I have no evasion merits, I assume a Thf would have an even better evasion rate, as far as gear I wore:

Ranged: Fire Bomblet ( No Ungar ; ;)
Head: O-Hat
Neck : Evasion Torque
Ears: Evasion Earring/Ethereal
Body: SH
Hands: Seiryu Kotes
Rings: Savatta / Sniper
Back: Boxers
Waist: Scouters Rope
Legs: Byakko
Feet: Fumas

The biggest thing is not to feed this mob too much TP. WSs are really the onlt dangerous part of the this fight. Its very easy to trio it, but exponentially harder the more people you have feding it TP.

I think thats about I had in terms of evasion gear.

Mambo is of course the big thing here, and everyone else letting the THF get off a few WS before doing anything that would really pull hate.

So why does no one use Melody earrings +1 with brd support?

I would assume you would max out eva/emnity for tanking, macro in haste for utsusemi and macro in more +emnity for WS. I'm working on a good gear setup for my gf who's a thf tank while I support on rdm/whm or rdm/brd.

Also the melody +1 give +2 chr which is good for Dancing edge, her preferred weapon skill.

Could also use bat and blind yourself, but your damage would suffer. Maybe another melee/thf who could TA ws you.

Level 3 Feint might fix that.

Charby blinds you himself, and its a weak blind so no need to bring blind pots.

I tanked it with very little evasion gear about a week after I hit 75, before merits were ever introduced.

Just used OHat, Dance Shoes, and Scorp Harness as far as Evasion goes. Had a BRD Mambo and a WHM to heal with RDM support. The other people were DDs. It wasnt very hard with haste on myself and slow and elegy on Chary. When he has slow and elegy on him his attack rounds are far enough apart to recast Ichi with ease.
