any ways to change character's name in FFXI?

I wonder is there any way to change character's name in FFXI without delect the character?

If your name violates someone, the GM will force you to change name.
No other way that I know of.

I've been looking for a method to change my name for the longest. It took me nearly three years to realize I hate it.

If I tell a GM my name offends me, I wonder, will they force me to change it?

Try this, Let's say your name was Ghostraven.
-Cancel your ID for Ghostraven.
-wait a month or so.***
-Create a mule character on that server with the same name (Ghostraven)
-Recover your content ID for the old Ghostraven, You should get a message stating that name is already taken please choose another.
-Rename character.
***I say wait a month or so because if you delete and try to make a new character immediately your info is still held on the server AFAIK
Or try this:

To my knowledge this only works during a server shift.
-Pick a server to shift to
-Make a mule on that server with the name you want to change
-shift your character
-when you choose world they will say name is taken (by mule) choose another.
Or try this????

-Spam GM calls and beg to have your name changed like ARVY did

you know delect the character for a month, then make a mule with the delect character's name and call FFXI to bring back the delect character?

by delect, I'm presuming you mean delete. you don't have to wait a month. I helped a friend with it a long time ago. we did everything in one day. its risky though, they should be able to restore the character... but you never know

so just delect the old character, make mule with the same name and call SE bring back to old one. then I should get somehing like name is already taking right?

yeah, though I think someone else needs to make a mule with the name on a seperate content ID from yours
