Hey all
I'm sure similar questions have been asked before but i couldn't find any recent answers, anyway i was wondering if Taru Warriors find it easy to get into low level parties these days? Im comming back to the game after 3 years and back then people didnt feel that safe with a taru tank as i remember anyway.
Thanks for the help

Dunes parties are so rare these days I don't think your race will even matter. People need good tanks/DDs at those levels, so just make sure you have an up to date Great Axe and Armor and you'll be golden (some attack or accuracy food wouldn't hurt either. I strongly recommend Grilled Black Hare, Meat Jerky, Roast/Juicy Mutton or a Jack-O-Lantern)
Good Luck ^^b
As Taru main tank at low level, you will get 1 shot here and there when your party hunts fish. Other than that you'll do fine.

Agreed, any party that would invite a WAR to tank at this point is unlikely to balk at it being Tarutaru. Make sure you have the best reasonable gear available that you can (HQ/NM drop/etc. not necessary, but you should have Scale or Brass gear by the dunes, and upgrade to Bone/Lizard when available. HQs of these are nice, but not necessary.)
The two main difficulties you're likely to come across are 1) PLs who believe they should tank or party leaders who get a PL and insist they tank, and 2) people who don't believe WAR can tank, or who don't believe WARs will tank, and thus won't bother inviting one except as DD. I have to admit to falling into the latter camp a lot of the time, but {meat}{Shield}OK in your search comment should help. (Hell, having a search comment at all would help.)
If you're going to tank, though, don't dual-wield axes, and especially don't sub NIN before 24 to do it. Great Axe is nice for Parrying, and Shield is handy when using an Axe. Subbed DW I gives almost negligible haste at low levels, and unlike THF, WAR doesn't really have weapons worth off-handing for other reasons IIRC.
edit: Don't forget food. You can get away with DD food at low levels, but watch the situation and ideally bring both DD and def foods. Somepage gives a good breakdown of the most effective def foods for particular base def (after equipment), which you can easily see from the Equipment screen.

I leveled my taru warrior to 38 (about 99% of the time as /mnk and even tanked a few times in my mid 30's) I never got one shotted or what ever people say happens as a taru tank. I have a level 58 taru pld/war who form what I recall has never been one shotted.
Just roll with it it works out.
