Who is a better TANK?
A WAR at lvl 12 or a Mnk at lvl 10? who is better lol
I was in a party this morning and I was a WAR there was a Mnk who thought he was a better tank... but i had the better armor. so who do you think is better lmao.
btw the mnk only had a robe on lol

Take it was in the dunes? If so, I'd say the whm, as that's who is going to be getting hit the most.

At that level there is really so little to base it off. Parties will be slow and dreadful unless you work as a party. So I'll say the person with the most HP at the time is the better tank. Both are horribly tanks if you have zero HP.

the better tank is the one who can 1) keep the hate just enough so the squishies don't get hammered but still be able to pass it to a secondary if needed and 2) can mitigate the most damage either with higher DEF or avoidance (shadows, blocking, dodge etc.) so the healers are not wasting their MP

at those levels: skill > gear > levels > jobs

if you have a better grip on hate control and have higher defense throughout your armor, then you're a better tank. it sounds like the monk was just being stupid. that tends to happen in the dunes.

The WAR, if for no other reason, because he is 2 levels higher. If the levels were switched, I'd go with the MNK over the WAR. At that level range, they both have the same exact hate generating tools, and the DEF difference in gear sets between the two jobs isn't huge -- it's not so big that it can overcome the advantages of a 2-level gap.

lmao i really meant the Mnk was at lvl 12 and me being the war was the lvl 10 i was doing more dmg then the mnk and he kept provoking off of me thinking he was the tank so i let him have tank and he died lol ^.^ though i didnt mean to kill him as i provoked he died lmao he had poison and we faced a gob lol which hit him hard ^.^

The other thing in my mind that moves me toward preferring WAR (or PLD) tanks in the Dunes is the Defense Boost they get at level 10. An extra 10 points of Def is like wearing a second Brass Harness.

But that would almost have been a better test anyway. Who has the up-to-date armor?
