Well, any race can use ancient magic, it's just that tarutaru can dish out more damage with it due to their high INT.
Yes, Ancient magic has a very very high damage output. However, it cost soo many MP sso you can only cast 2 them 2 times until you ran out of MP

let me ask you another question then(anybody can answer),
can you have other abilites beside your sub job?? Mainly, because i see players like jei with his main job then like a million sub jobs....he really has all those abilities...ex:whm-heal blm-fire so on...
heal and fire are not job abilities they're spells.. being a red mage he has access to spells from both white and black mages, but he is restricted in his choices. Maybe someone else can answer more fully ^-^'
You can switch jobs as often as you like and level up each job individually. So when you see Jei's signature he really is level XX on 5 or more different jobs. In fact, you could also say that he's level 1 on every other job he hasn't switched to yet.
However, when you switch off of a job, you can no longer use those skills. So while you can say that you're a level 35 WAR, if you aren't currently using WAR or at least subbing WAR, that fact has nothing to do with your current character (other than the fact that if you switch back to WAR you are now a level 35 WAR).
Only your current job and your current sub job actually matter for what skills and stats you have now. The only thing that you really save when you switch jobs is your weapon skills which are not related to job (except that only some jobs can use some weapon skills).
And remember, your sub job is very limited. When you're a 50WAR/25THF you're THF skills aren't going to be exactly like a 25THF main would be. You can't use your job defining skill (the level one active skill) and there are other limitations that I don't fully know yet. Basically, subbing just adds a little extra in the skill department, so finding just the right sub to add just the right skills can make a big difference in effectiveness (like subbing WAR on your other tank-job like PAL so you get taunt skill), otherwise subbing is mostly for fun and some variety (sub BLK on a WAR so you can toss a little BOOM when you're in the mood).

bleh
people are ignorant. They're only amazed at large numbers... a whole bunch of mid-sized numbers added up don't mean a thing to them. In a PT, DRK prolly does more damage overall than the THF, but they see a huge number by the thf during renkei, they always get the praise and not us
DRK, MNK, and RNG = severely underrated
Now as for black mage... i dun keep track of how often they cast so it's not my problem XD
I just know that they get us home faster XD
