I've been currious to see everyones opinion on which is the harder fight for the lvl 70 limit break. Some people say RDM while others say BLU. heres some of the abilities both npc's have against you in the fight:
Maat:
Maat assumes your job and has all the abilities of it including your 2hr.
Regardless of your job, he fights with his fists and can use Asuran Fists.
Your sub-job is disabled for this fight.
Maat's stats match yours as you enter the fight, so equipping negative equipment will make him weaker.
Maat's combat and magic skill levels match your own.
Maat's level matches yours as you enter the fight, so going as 66-69 will deny him access to level dependant Weapon Skills (Asuran Fists) and abilities.
Raubahn:
Level 75
Can use all Blue Magic skills
Can use all Sword weapon skills
Uses Azure Lore when player uses their Two-Hour ability.

What are the chances of someone here havind done both RDM and BLU?
Maybe if you read the link I showed you, you could see for yourself how difficult (or easy) Raubahn is.
They are 2 different fights.
Most RDM's sleep nuke their fight.
From what I heard as BLU, it's an all out Blue Magic spamming, which will make a VERY quick fight.
BLU is also based on luck. If Raubahn will throw himself some Cures, that'll make it easier for you.
Take that for what it is.

i HAVE read your link, like 4 days ago... (it's even favorited on my browser for when i fight that beast) i still don't see what that has to do with anything but if you want to keep talking about it ok. i understand that BOTH fights are difficult ( and i have since i started reading about FFXI) though in the opinions formed by others which i made my choice by, i think blue mage is a harder fight just due to the fact he as EVERY blue magic spell along with all weapon skills. just pray he buffs or heals lol. rdm is tough, but due to the fact you can sleep matt and nuke 'em just makes me pick blue over rdm. like i said before im not looking for strategies, im just looking for the voice of the people who have done these fights and the people who have formed opinions from others.

Especially when the day you fight Maat effects the potency of Sleep and your other spells.

I never did the BLU fight, so i can't answer that question. However, a couple of your maat statements are incorrect.
The effect of equipping negative gear is unproven. Many sources claim this is untrue, and does not affect Maat's stats.
Going in as 66-69 does not deny him access to Asuran Fists. He killed me with Asuran Fists when i was level 66. Likewise, regardless of your level, Maat has all of the RDM spells thru level 75, including merited spells. Although he doesn't use it very often, he can cast Bio III.

I was gonna say the same.
Not much more to add tbh though. Not done the BLU fight so nothing to say.

im not asking for help or testi drops.
I'm still waiting for a testi to drop. One dropped long ago, but I still speak like a helium-sucking Eunich opera singer, so I really can't wait much longer. I also can only grow like, one beard hair. C'mon testi.
Oh testi drop...
nevermind.
