I was wondering what the races were gonna look like. Best part of it seemed to be the baby chobi at the end..

Are the races player controlled or is it random ?

The races aren't player controlled, you give the jockey some instructions, provide a status boosting item or status inflicting item (bad for your oppoenents) and the rest it pretty much determined by how your raised it.

And i'm guessing there's 0 chance that your NPC fellow can be your jockey, right?

free races are in a pattern, 2 without the super chocobos, 1 with all 3 super chocobos, 3 with chocobos from single nation, 2 with 2 of the super chocobos
