At best you can get someone else to go buy a copy, save the discs on his computer and upload them somewhere so that you can download them, and then tell you the key you need to activate your content ID and expansions.

i dont know where your at or what system you want to play on, but gamestop just sent me a flyer, with ffxionline plus all expansions, for the xbox 360, for $19.99. 1 day shipping would have it there fast as possible. thats probaly your best option since its not downloadable.

Well you can't officially download it from the site, but you can (and I may add this can be risky) download it from a torrent and use your purchased registration key, but make sure you've got some damn good virus protection and the like before you attempt that.
It's kind of shady but if you are using a legal registration code it's not really illegal per se, but it's probably not a good idea anyway.

and coming from a person who doesn't have any downloaded music from limewire or a burnt CD from a friend?
there is a way to download it www.playonline.com/ff11us/download
but you need a password from the buddy pass this website is printed on to download so its still pretty useless. Also to even play you need FFXI and playonline REG keys to even make a char. So i would just wait and buy the game off Amzon.com and wait for it or pay extra for next day shipping.

Not sure what kind of point you were trying to make there, but whether or not other people do it does not change the fact that it's illegal.

Yikes, didn't mean to start this train of conversation. At any rate, I did say that I wouldn't recommend it but it is out there.
but I think tis a good idea.
Yeah, downloading a 8-9GB game is a good idea. Let's see, my connection is fairly quick, and I tend to not be able to get over 1.5MBps downstream, in every day use. Strangely, those bandwidth testers show me at 8-9mbps. Still.
Jesus man, downloading 8-9GB in anime/manga/music takes a few days, downloading a game *from a single source*? You're *asking* to never finish that

Serriously, downloading FFXI is probably the worst idea in the world unless you happen to have a direct plugin right to the internet. And even that would be slow.

I dunno, I mean, dowloading FFXI from a P2P network would be broken as all hell, but S-E really should offer a direct download on their site. It would save people that can't get the actual discs anywhere (I don't know how things are everywhere else, but in my neck of the woods nobody has FFXI for sale like ever) and even more importantly, users could re-download the files if their disc becomes scratched or otherwise screwed up.
The beauty in that system is that you can always redownload if you have your key, you can download it on someone else computer and play while you are there, and you don't have to go through the hassle of installing, activating, and then updating for three years afterwards. I didn't really think those things were a big deal, but recently a friend logged in to his Steam account at my house and just downloaded a bunch of games onto my computer. All he needed was his login and password...very very conveniant.
It would take a while, MY POL folder is like 5 gigs or something like that, but think about the fact that you would be downloading the newest versions of all the files. So it's really kinda the same, either you install in 20 minutes and then wait 4 hours to update, or you install for 4 and half hours over the net.
God, I wish they'd do this...I have working discs and I'd probably still download over installing the normal way...

Hi I have a kinda related problem. I bought this game a long time ago and have done many exciting things in the in between time including moving and switching ISP a few time. Now a friend of mine is asking me to play with him online but I can't find the game in stores anywhere I am except in xbox format.
The question is that if I get that version would the registration codes work on a PC version?

No, they won't, you'd have to get someone to make yoru account though the 360 (I can do it... I have a 360, and the 360 version as well). The problem with this is you'd have to have someone edit your account all the time (as well as put in personal information) though this. Also you'd have to buy Wings of the Goddess on the 360.
FFXI: Collection 07 EB:Games (http://www.ebgames.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=646844) offers shipping to your house!

You wouldn't always have to edit your personal info on the 360...they keys are universal to make IDs with. I bought a 360 copy for a mule even tho i used the codes on my PC and used the buddy pass on my PS2.

yes they would. if the codes didn't work cross platform...and hypotheticly you sold your 360 for a computer all you'd have to do is get the FFXI PC cds somewhere and just either temp login or register your user info. nothin really too hard....
