Me and my friend are looking to reactivate his account and when we log in it says the credit charges were backed out and that we need to pay. That's all fine and things then it brings up a screen for POL ID, password and we re-enter the correct info and we get the Error UCS-5000:
Incorrect or Incomplete Information
Please check and try again.
We have tried it many times and it doesn't seem to do anything. Anyone have any clue why it's doing this?

Same thing happened to me not long ago. You might need to try contacting SE so they can reset your password or whatever needs to be done.

The exact same thing's happening to me now.
It's got my POL ID already, I *know* i'm entering the right password because I can log in and out of POL itself whenever I want - I've tried reloading POL, restarting my CPU and so on, but it won't work.
Oh, and don't bother sending customer support an email, because I've sent two, the first one 9 hours ago, and they haven't replied yet apart from some stupid auto-response that was just ridiculous.
SE need to work on their customer service - this is appalling.
If you don't want to call, try their live chat. Live chat will answer account questions the same way their phone support does. Or at least that's what they told me.
They will also ask you for your registered informations on live chat.

Sorry to necro an old thread but I am having this same problem.
I had to take a few months leave from FFXI, I now have a new laptop and just tried reinstalling which in itself was a pain because I now have vista but anyways..
I can log onto pol so I know I remember my details correctly but if I try to register anything/review or re-activate my IDs it prompts me to enter it again and then tells me it's wrong and gives me the UCS 5000 error. Did anyone ever solve this problem??

I think this one is best handled by Customer Service unfortunately. Here is the contact info:
Phone Support:
PlayOnline Information Center
(858) 790-7529 (PLAY)
Monday - Friday
9:00 am - 6:00 pm Pacific Time (excluding weekends and holidays)
Web Chat Support: https://secure.playonline.com/supportus/index.html
Have your personal info, credit card info, POL info user name and password, and possibly your registration codes.
I prefer to use the web support because I play my PSP or watch videos while I wait for them to talk to me. Much better than sitting with a phone glued to my ear.

Well I managed to solve the problem somewhat, seeing as I had to rebuy 2 expansions because I lost them whilst moving somehow I just bought the Vani collection 08, uninstalled everything I had installed and just installed the new collection and it all works. Maybe Vista was just annoying it somehow even though I had downloaded the patch. Thanks for the help, I'm so glad I didn't have to go to customer support in the end though, it's such a pain D:

Ya reinstalling absolutely sucks but its necessary sometimes. Things just happen......at least they do on my computer. I am plagued with "bugs" that screw things up and that leave my friends and I scratching our heads wondering how in the hell it could have happened. My one buddy says its my "aura" (old hippy  ). I can't wear watches because I kill them so he says my aura messes with computers too. LOL
Well glad you got it fixed and thanks for coming back and telling us how you did it! People who do searches will find the thread and hopefully try reinstalling too now.

Yeah I hope it helps, I think reinstalling is the last thing people want to do but most of the time it solves all the problems :3
