I was leaving Delkfutt's tower, when I saw this GM hiding behind some of the supports talking to another player (propably the big kill any charmed person with Thundaga III when Pallas uses charm fest going on up there)

I should have zoomed in, didn't realise how blurry it would be.

It's just my grainy GM sighting I guess ;)

all GMs have a blurry-effect on they're armor ^^; i like to think of it as "Built up rage" :D

It's supposed to be a 'firey' effect. As far as I gather it's on their weapon. Any special effect on one part of a PC is spread to the rest of it as well, but that's for another thread.

Oddly enough, I was about to call one on an Elvaan sexually harassing me, but they have more important things to do.

The shimmer effect is intended to distinguish GMs even further from regular players. It's not an effect of their armor, but rather of either their GM sword or shield. This is why it's also possible to see GMs clearly in many movies, as they do not always wear these (and it isn't uncommon to see one screwing around with event weapons or such)

And yes, [GM]Dave does claim it is from "Pent up Rage" or something to the effect, but he's not been around for awhile, so it's not much worth insulting.


Anyway, I deleted all my FF screenshots long ago, but I used to have one of a GM who zoned into an area so that he could check a glitch in the terrain, and then saying it was an 'accident' and that I 'didn't see that' ^^ I also had a GM forbid me from showing screenshots of them once, lol, but that was so long ago...

LGMs can eat regular GMs for breakfast. Hence why [GM]Dave sometimes get vengeful on those that would dare threaten him.

GMs have the ability to put on costumes for most .dats in game (I assume limited to FFXI, so that they can't crash users without expansions)


They've shown this during haloween events, they did a parade around cities once a couple years back, in various costumes. Saw a GM turn a fishbot into a non-normal costume too, a bat. Couldn't prove they were botting, but no bot expects to be turned into a bat, so they still lost cash =p

They should have a holiday event, probably best at halloween where GM's go around randomly costuming people in cities.

I had a picture of a GM that came to talk/warn me one time while I was PTing. We were like level 30 chaining every chance we could in c.nest, and I had a not very nice comment and GM came to tell me to get rid of it. After I told him to wait till our chain was over =/ he was not very patient but nice in the end.
Comment was like, "Do not PT with (random guy that bought his account) he is a terrible RDM blah blah".

Well, this one is rather old. I just want to mention it's in first person view and the little sunburst at the bottom right is an old graphical error I used to get way back when.

Yes cool cool, yeah the blurry glaze is an effect of the GS. Without it being equipped you can actually take the time to see the GM.

And yes they have the ability to look as you, and any other .dat within the game of FFXI.

These known characters roam throughout the private server. Amazing as is, they can get the ability's like /sit too.

All you need is a character dispute between two users. Both of the users must be in the same zone. Then they will show. They also show on some other occasions but it is rare if it is not the set standards they require.

I have a couple of screenshots of a SGM somewhere around, taken on my mule in bastok. They're kinda bad quality because I was scared to stare too obviously, even though I was on my mule, and he kinda yelled at me for harassing him after I poked and then examined him. So I didn't want him to notice me hanging around taking pictures.

If you thought that was bad, I know of someone who claimed to be an ex-GM (no way to validate for sure) and yet there's rumors abound that this person engages in the very practices that get other players banned (which has been validated by a few people whom I trust)

I have seen a GM in the game on two occasions and only two. I have screenshots, but I will not post them. On the first occasion a GM was talking to someone in Al Zahbi just before the siege. Everyone was poking fun at her and I made a minor attempt to get people to settle down, but of course the people there started making fun of ME so I left.

On the second occasion I had contacted a GM about the ferry issue (some people would get off the ferry too early; my friend was going to unlock COR and we were taking the boat to Nashmau; it took off and he was in Nashmau and I was on the boat. O.o). I told him that the boat was going wonky, and he replied, "Yes, the boat that goes wonky is a current issue; the development team is currently working on it." No joke.

Here's the funny part. Earlier my friend was talking about how GMs always seemed to pop up right in front of him and whatnot. Now, the GM says his usual, "Is there anything else I may assist you with today?"

I'll give you all one guess what happened next.

We have big parties with the RGoNots on sylph server and this was our 100th new member gathering. Hehe, I got the bright idea to "invite" a GM. This really nice lady GM actually surprised the hello out of me and appeared. She even made me get in the screen shots with them all.
