Is it possible in FFXI. One of my friends saw Ping's stat and said he was either power leveling or the game had a quick lvl system compared to other mmorpgs.

Funny how your friend can know this without finding out Ping's played time...

Ping actually displays his lvls AND his played time in his sig.

Ah, my bad then. Due to the whackos with the 40' billboards of FFXI characters I turned sigs off.

Those damn things are almost as bad as pop up ads.

I havnt played the game but if it's anything like PSO or RO than if you stay away from lounging or idleing and remain constant in leveling levels juss sorda seem to pile up. Also from what i've read, dieing seems to put a damper on leveling...since, well, you lose exp when you die heh, sooo i imagine Ping stays away from both idling and dieing ...looking back why did i even post this heh juss rambleing, guess it juss bothered me seeing your question un-answered.

Thats not what I mean by power leveling.
I mean if I am a lvl 2 warrior, lets say i get 60 exp for killing a worm.
Then I go and fight in a high level PT, lets say they are all around lvl 60 but Im still lvl 2.
If they go fight some really hard monster, and I get the kill. Then even though high lvls soak exp. I still get like 120 exp. Which is double what you get normally. Thats power lvling.

There's always ways to speed up leveling, but it's not constant. You have to keep looking for new ways to get the most EXP possible. That's why there's so many monsters and places.

Like Diablo II...they really need to fix that. They say that the best way to level is to fight enemies your own level, but I can get from 1-10 in Act 5 Hell in about 3 minutes if there is a good party helping me.

To answer your question:

No, this is not Like Diablo II. If a level 5 PTed with level 50's the lvl 5 would get like 1 xp. If your not with ppl your same lvl it makes it harder, not easier to lvl. Someone in your PT 3 lvls higher then you would get almost twice as much xp as you. There's an equation to figure out your xp somewere on this forum, but I couldn't find it.

no..
you can not go into a Lv60 PT with Lv2...if you do this..no one( Lv60 guys and Lv2guy) will get no exp..
When you are going in Lvup PT the difference between the level of all 6ppl should not be higher then 4Level or you will get very low exp. even if fight very hard monster.Best Pt is with ppl who have no difference in Level or 2Level difference.

anyway..there are other way for Powerlevling...like you fight with low level very hard monster for 120-180exp. and have a high level WHM with you, but not in PT!, just standing and healing you.
i did it for two level...but its hard, becouse when fight with Low Level very hard monster it will take looooooooggg to kill it ^^

There is no way to power level in this game, unless you have some high level guy with no life follows you around. AND manage to wait about 15-30 mins for you to kill ONE very very hard monster, (you'd be considered lucky if you dont' get killed w/ one hit by that monster) for 140-200exp.
Best ways to get exp is to fight monsters your own level. For characters like Galka this is VERY easily done, You can even take on hard monsters for 120 constant exp until level 15.
If you notice i level faster each time i start a new character. The reason? if you play enough you'll know where to fight and who to fight and plan everything out. I was going to make a guide on how to level 1-20 in less then 24 hour game time (with certain types of character of couse). But it's no fun if people don't figure that out by them selves.
I never idle with my Pong or Table character. I'm always on as ping doing command "/sea all 10<12 inv" , to check if any one is looking for PT at that level, if i successfully find good members I switch back to my leveling character and make my own PT with best leveling potential members fighting monsters and chaining them for no less then 100exp. from level 10-20 leveling flys since you don't require much exp to level.
The key to leveling fast at higher level is pure "luck" if you are waiting to be invited t party. But fastest is to have the right members in PT.
If you look at "fighting easy monster fast" VS "fighting hard monster slow". you'll see at certain level fighting easy monster 5 times in a row for 26-36 exp each is much more effcient then fighting a same level or harder monster for 75-120 exp. On top of that you don't risk death much when you constantly fight only easy monsters.
One time i tested exp gaining by gather 5 tanking characters and 1 white mage. What we decided to do was stay in PT but fight Own monsters that are easy for the level. The result was some what satisfying since 5 members were fighting easy monsters gave 18 each times that by 5 and you get 75exp, as for the rate of getting the Exp, it was QUICK. (Of course this only works effeicent at certain levels.)
Another thing about leveling at low level, I will not tell which food to eat for power boost, but there is certain types of food that you can eat (High level players know what i'm talking about ;)) for good STR+ AGI+ and INT+. EATING the RIGHT FOOD HELPS!!
For back up purposes I carry 2 high potions with me at low levels. you never know when you'll need it.
Ping has good 500,000 gil with him just sitting there and "recycling" to make more money (Of course I buy equpiments and such to my new characters), so leveling new character become VERY easy when you have top of the line amor and accessories and food/potions to aid you in fighting solo. You can buy level 10 full set armors for only 25k and have good stats going for you.

Thoes are basics of how i level. but, I will never put a guide on where to fight etc etc. it's really for players to find out them selves. More experience in playing the game will help you as you play new characters and level new jobs. It is probably felt same way for other experienced players in ffxi.

When I had a Hume character Drako power leveled me and a few others for a while. It took us five whole minutes to kill one monster though.

Thanks a lot Ping and I admire the fact that you wont post guide. You are definetly a professional at this game though. If only we got paid for playing, haha.

Instead of taking awhile to kill something, try having the high level bust it down to very little life, then he can untarget and leave it for you to battle. Power leveling is easy in this game if you can do it right

That doesnt work... you dont know what your talking about. There is a rather heafty exp penalty if you start fighting a monster who isnt at full health. Example i saw a guy running from a ‚Æ‚Ä‚Æ‚Ä giant in qufim. He had about 2 hits worth of life left... but so did the guy, so i guess he didnt wanna take the chance. I taunted em over to save the guy, killed em, and got like 12 xp. It definately doesnt work
