Hey, this is Saturos (in game). I need something done for me. The external hard drive on my PS2 recently stopped working after it took a small fall, and now I can't load FFXI.
So, can someone tell Recian, Mattlightning, and Skylark that I won't be able to log in for a bit over a month?
Mattlightning and Skylark should be on every other day or so, but Recian might be a little harder to find, as lately he logs on roughly 2-3x a week.
Should you find all three, I will of course pay you for your trouble.
Just think of it as a new quest that pays well
Thanks guys, this would be a great help to me.
Please post a reply to this thread if you find them.

You got it. I actually see Mattlightning a lot. I'll keep an eye out for you.
By the way, you don't have to pay me anything. It's cool.

So just Skylark and Recian remain then.

So I found Skylark and I told him. He is asking if you're going to switch to PC.
He also says hi!

Yes, I'm switching to PC. Just need a month to pay for it and everything.
Thanks again Eohmer :)
So just Recian is left. If you need help, Bigpimpin knows him,
and should be able to help.
By the way, FFXI works with Vista right?

I just found Recian. I haven't found Mattlightning yet. I told Recian to tell Matt the same thing though, so that should take care of all 3.

Cool, great job Eohmer. You're sure you don't want the reward?

I'm not ASKING for anything, but I obviously can't stop you if you want to, lol.... :D
But yeah, I don't need rewards when I help people. :)

Not really, unless they've finally fixed it. There's a way to get it to work on Vista, but you need a copy of FFXI on another computer.
There's a thread about it in these forums, I'll link it in a minute.

Edit:
Seems like you can just get somebody to e-mail you their playonline folder.
I have managed to get FFXI installed and updated on Vista, and it works by itself, however it takes some tinkering to enable it to work with Windower.
How to install FFXI in Windows Vista. - January 2007
1. Install Playonline from the original Van'diel Collection DVD.
2. Copy a previously updated Playonline folder and replace the existing install.
3. Delete the Patch.bak file
4. Run Playonline and it will check all files and then reload.
5. Install FFXI + ROZ + COP from the Original Vana'diel Collection DVD.
6. Install TOAU from it's DVD.
7. Make sure to tell polboot.exe to "Run in XP SP2 Compatibility Mode" and to "Run this Program as Administrator". To do this Browse to the Final Fantasy XI install directory and right-click on polboot.exe and choose properties. Click on the Compatibilty Tab, and check off the Appropriate boxes as described above, or see (Fig A and B).

Hey, sorry for the late reply.
I should have the new PC at the end of March. However, there is a chance that it could be until two weeks into April, due to shipping and handling. I'd like to aim for around early April though.
I'll try getting FFXI to work on Vista, hopefully I'll be able to get it working.

Should I relay that message to them or just wait until you actually return? lol

I don't think it's really necessary that you need to tell them, but you can if you want. I'm guessing the end of march, but this is all assuming that I'll be able to get FFXI running on Vista by then.

I don't know that anyone is paying attention to this thread, but just wanted to say that my PC comes Friday. I'll be able to log in Saturday, what with the recent Vista patch. Well, /wave if you see me
I'll be playing with my wyvern's "new" emotes.

Well, updating FFXI now. I'm thinking it'll take a while at this point, can't be sure.
By the way, Vista is great  Don't listen to the naysayers.
Eohmer, I'll be sure to send something your way when I get back on :)

I'd still like to know someone personally using Vista. No one I know does, heh. My pal might get it, so I'll be able to check it out.
Congrats on your PC though. You'll find it tons better than PS2. :)
I also started on PS2, HUGE difference.

I run FF on a laptop with Vista and wireless connection. Midrange HP, nothing special and it runs as well as my desktop thats on high speed cable.
No problems with Vista for me.

I ran vista business edition for a week. I really really do not like it. It has all kinds of problems with drivers with my hardware and such (decent system, a64 3000+, geforce 6600gt, sound blaster audigy 4). Like it all works, just not nearly as well as XP.
I do not recommend.
