I'm interested in doing the Aht Urhgan quest, to get access that place, and I'm trying to follow it from here. Click Here (http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/quests.html?realm=Jeuno&fquest=710)
However, I just spoke to Faursel in Neptune's Spire Inn, (Lower Jeuno) and the only only dialogue I am getting from him is this :
"Anyway, that's how things are standing at the moment.
Well, what need you? Speak up now."
Then I get the option to speak about "goods for sale" or "nothing!" /sigh! :worry:
I'm left feeling rather confused now! How do I get him to speak to me about the place in the east, and how to get a pass, with him asking me to choose from the following :
Beginners List
Intermediate List
Advanced List
I'm hoping to do the beginners list, since it's the only one I think I can solo right now.
I don't even know if I've already gone through the dialogue with him in the past, and left the rest for another time or not! :worry:
I bought the ToAu expansion a while ago, and installed it on my PC, and have just checked back today, to see if I have it registered in PoL, and it tells me that its already registered, so that's not what the problem is.
I mentioned that I spoke to Faursel, who is in the Tenshodo HQ room, so obviously I had already done the tenshodo quest a while ago to become a member there.
So I don't think that is the problem either!
Can anyone work out why I can't get him to talk to me about Aht Urghan? :worry:

I can't believe I missed it! I got it fine now!
Thanks! :)

Following this quest Click Here (http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/quests.html?realm=Jeuno&fquest=710) I am having such a damned hard time trying to get the items for the beginners list! :(
Starting in Valkrum Dunes :
I managed to get a damselfly worm today, then I started on the snippers, trying to get a crab apron, but all I kept getting for a while were Rock salts! :(
Then after a while, the little round icon thingy at the bottom of the screen was red, and now NOTHING is dropping from the snippers for me! (even after about 10 kills!) :(
Can anyone give me some kind of a chart, or tell me what times of day (ingame) in relation to the colours is best to try and get a crab apron? It would help immensley!
Also, could I have an idea what times of day I might get the other items from the other mobs too? I gather that Red Day (I'll just call it that, since I can't remember the times it represents. Heh) is a NO DROP day for Snippers, but I don't know what times of day you can, and can't get items to drop from other mobs!
I'm kind of hating how everything has to be so damned random all the time!
I feel it's a big time waster! I'm never going to get this quest done if I don't get all these items!
I might end up being forced to pay the nasty high price for it (50000 wth!) instead! /sigh!
Can anyone try and help me out a bit with times of day please?

Pretty sure you already posted a topic about this.
Anyway.
AFAIK, there is no day, or moon phase, etc that affects the drops of the items. I remember getting all the items in a matter of an hour at the most. It goes by much quicker the higher level you are as you can massacre the mobs quicker. It doesn't necessarily increase the drop rate, but killing mobs quicker is as close as you're going to get.
Best advice, just keep trying. Get some help from some friends too. Have them help you on the same mob, or everyone fight a different kind of mob.

Merged your two threads together. Though I can't shake the feeling of deja vu from months passed.

I don't think it makes any difference on how fast you kill mobs!
It never seems to work for me at least! :(
I found that damsel flies checked as EP (with the high, whatever it was. can't remember away from the game) when I started on them in the dunes yesterday, but snippers checked as worthless. (can't remember what the check wording thing reads for that level) For me personally, I find that I don't really get many drops from mobs who check as little weaklings, and get more from those who are a little higher level. But that can vary sometimes!
Since my WHM is the highest level, I was using that, and had THf as sub, since I thought the treasure hunter trait might come in handy. I'm not even sure if that was available under WHM/THF combination I had, and didn't think to check it!
Maybe THF is better for this job, I don't know, but there just HAS TO BE some time of day at which drops are better! I can somehow feel it!
I started getting Rock Salt drops from snippers, (and 1 rare drop of crab meat) then after a while when I noticed the little red icon at the bottom of the screen, (which I've just realised to be firsday, I think) I didn't get anything at all! :vent:
Can anyone explain that one?! Im sure that crabs must have an off day on firsday!!
Just out of interest, which job did you use to get these items?
P.S - Annoyingly, all the items for this quest are rare ex, (I would have saved myself a lot of time by purchasing them from an AH otherwise! /sigh!) so if I had anyone to help me, and they got any of the drops that I didn't......... well I'm not sure if there is a way they can be traded from player to player in this instance, can they?
I don't really have anyone I can call a "friend" ingame at the moment. But there's always the off chance that I am lucky enough to get help from someone in my LS when they're not too busy with anything. (always asking politely of course)

Merged your two threads together.
That's fine. No problem!
I'll keep things which are of the same topic, in the same place next time then.
I guess I thought that since the person who replied had helped me solve that part of the quest, then there was no more need for help at this part, and I didn't think anyone else would read my next post!
I guess I was just a little wrong on that part.
Though I can't shake the feeling of deja vu from months passed.
I'm a little confused now I think! I wonder if it's possible you could explain here please?

Oh, btw..... are their quests to be done, to gain access of all zones in the other 2 expansions too? (RoZ, and CoP)
I never got them done, and I don't have a clue where to start them!
I don't know what to look up for, on any of the FFXl help sites. (yes, I have them all bookmarked too) All quests have names, so I couldn't exactly type in "Rize Of The Zilart" or "Chains Of Promathia" since they probaly won't come under that quest name. So I'm not really sure on how to go about looking for them.
I'm very sorry! /blush!
Could anyone kindly give me a link to them, so that I can read for myself, and see if I am able to do them please?
P.S. I'm sorry for alot of posting here this morning! (well it is where I am right now, as I'm typing)
I'm done now!

Missions can be found here. (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Category:Missions).
Should explain everything you need to know about the expansions and when you can start doing the missions.

I'm not going to say 100% that day has nothing to do with it, but I am going to say 98% that day has nothing to do with it. These items are just rare drops. You can get lucky and get it the first kill, or it could take hours. It's all pretty random.
And for the record, when I got these items my highest job was WAR30. I went around the dunes and Buburimu hacking at things with a GS until I got them all; no TH or anything.

THF 1 helps with drop rates when I farmed all 6 items, so get thf to lvl 15 minimum and sub it to a job over 30, you will notice these items drop quicker. I used theif 1 in burbimo (or however you sepll it) to get giant femours and every 2nd kill I always got dharmel spit.

Hmm...... well I was actually wondering if there were any initial, actual quests to get INTO..... the 2 expansion areas, like there is with the ToAU expansion!
You do the quests to gain access to the expansion areas..... THEN...... you can choose to do the missions afterwards!
This is how it works with ToAU. I was wondering if there was anything similar with RoZ, and CoP too!

Thf 1? Is that level 1 THF you used?
So get thf to lvl 15 minimum and sub it to a job over 30. You will notice these items drop quicker.
Yep, that's exactly what I DID DO!
I went to the dunes with my level 34 WHM, and subbed my level 18 THF to it!
Surprisinly, I managed to get my first catch (the damselfly worm) within about 4 or 5 kills, (roughly) so I thought.... GREAT.... this is gong to be easy! So then I started on the snippers, and all I kept getting were Rock Salts! (plus a one off drop with a crab meat) That's what started making me quite frustrated! :(
Then when it was firsday, I started getting NO DROPS at all! :(
Which is why I thought it had something to do with what day it was!
Maybe I should try get in a few more levels on my THF.
Maybe that might help a bit more with the drops!
I used theif 1 in burbimo (or however you sepll it) to get giant femours and every 2nd kill I always got dharmel spit.
Again..... you said THF 1.
Unless I am misunderstanding here, are you saying that you went to kill stuff in Buburimu with a level 1 THF?
You'd be killed in a matter seconds!

Okay, I think you have me a bit confused now! :worry:
Would there even be just the SLIGHTEST chance, that day and/or moon phase has something to do with it?
These items are just rare drops.
I guess that's why they call them rare/ex items then!
It STILL doesn't make things more easy in getting them though! :(
Just one small problem.
If I had someone helping me to get these items, and someone got one.
How would they be able to transfer/trade it to me?
I had a little help once, when I was getting the carby ruby for the SMN quest, (a rare/ex drop from leeches in "Buburimu Peninsula" I believe) and I think, the only way they could transer the ruby to me, was somehow via the treasure pool!
I'm not completely sure how though!
Have you, or anyone else tried this?
Why won't SE give us the option to trade any rare/ex items normally from player to player, and via the mail guy outside any AH!:( Unless I know of a reasonable explantion why not....... then I just think it's somewhat stupid of them!!
You can get lucky and get it the first kill, or it could take hours. It's all pretty random.
I hate random! It gets you NOWHERE! :vent:
It's the main reason why I always buy the items needed for crafting, cause it takes too darn long to farm them!
And for the record, when I got these items my highest job was WAR30. I went around the dunes and Buburimu hacking at things with a GS until I got them all; no TH or anything.
Okay, one question.
What does GS mean? Is it a Great Sword?
And TH? I'm guessing that's "Treasure Hunter." Is that right?

All RoTZ and CoP areas aside from Sky, Sea, Lufaise Medows, Misreaux Coast and Sancrium(As well as prommys) are acessable w/o doing any missions. The rest oyu get from doing the missions. No quests here!

GS = Great Sword
TH = Treasure Hunter
If you could trade rare/ex items RMT would still be camping things like Leaping Boots and Emperor Hairpin, its a good thing you cant trade them. Nothing would be hard in the game if you could send someone else out to get you rare/ex items for quests/missions ect not to mention the fact the RMT would just exploit this by camping every important rare/ex item for quests, missions and just general equips. So a big no to that idea.
There are no quests needed to get into the intial RoZ areas (Western/Eastern Altepa Desert, Labrynth of Onzozo, Korroloka Tunnel). You need to get to ZM13 before you can get into the main RoZ area worth nething, which is sky and you need to complete the Kazham Airship pass quest to gain access to Kazham, The jungles and Norg where you start Zilart Missions after you are rank 6.
For CoP you can go to many areas without quests, Attowa Chasm, Bibiki Bay, Carpenters Landing and Uglerand Range (Spelling?o.O) but you need to get a few cs before you can get into Promies and then once you complete all 3 of those you get access to Lufaise Meadows. After that there is still lots of new areas you need to unlock by going through the missions and theres alot of missions.

Thank you!
Took me a short while to work that out!
If you could trade rare/ex items RMT would still be camping things like Leaping Boots and Emperor Hairpin, its a good thing you cant trade them.
That's a diffrerent matter!
Rare/Ex items like the 2 you just mentioned, are wearable gear items dropped by NMs and BCNMs which are used to enhance your character's abilities and other things. Therefore, along with gil, (and a lot of it too) they are unfortunately important to RMT to want to try and sell them to stupid fools who encourage them into the game! (not saying anyone at the forums here has been stupid enough to encourage them. Maybe just the odd player, somewhere out there.... anywhere)
So yes..... I think they should be rare/ex and none tradeable!
Quest items like the ones I'm hoping to get for the ToAU expansion do NOT drop from NMs and BCNMs. Therefore, they are of no use to RMT, and are not as important as wearble gear items!
So I don't see any reason why these quest items should have to be rare/ex, and more to the point..... they should easily be made tradeable too!
Otherwise, how on earth are you supposed to have someone else help you to collect them, and pass them on?!
I guess the ToAU expansion quest is just a forced solo quest for obvious reasons!
Nothing would be hard in the game if you could send someone else out to get you rare/ex items for quests/missions e.t.c.
Well I never said that it had to be easy either! It SHOULDN'T have to be impossible though, which is what it felt like trying to get a crab apron from snippers a few days ago when all I kept getting were Rock Salts right, left and centre! :(
Not to mention the fact the RMT would just exploit this by camping every important rare/ex item for quests, missions and just general equips. So a big no to that idea.
Again... I don't see quest and mission items being important to RMT! They only want to try and sell wearable gear and gil (unfortunately!) as far as I am aware of!

Whoah! I never knew those you mentioned (Altepa and such) were RoZ areas! I wandered through a couple of them a few times and it never entered my mind!
There wouldn't happen to be a list somewhere, of all the zones/areas which belong to RoZ, and CoP by any chance? Or maybe I should just read through what's what in the link you gave earlier, feeling a bit confused trying to work out which expansion it's for! Heh!

Seriously? The fastest way to get ToAU zone access is not by doing the ridiculous 6 item quest.
The fastest way is to head to Davoi and ask the inevitable number of level 75 players hunting for coffer keys for assistance in acquiring a Testimony. Testimonies drop very often when you want coffer keys, so you should have one in short order without even needing to step more than 2 inches into the zone.
Take the testimony (any type) back to the NPC to complete the quest in lieu of the 6 subjob items.
P.S. trying to solo a Bogy at level 34 WHM is definitely not recommended. It's doable, but very dangerous since an early Curse attack will spell your doom.

QFT +2
Getting a test is by far the best choice, if you don't have any high lvl friends then doing what Icemage said is your best (and less annoying) bet at your lvl.

The person is in your party; item drops, they pass it and you lot it. Simple.
And like someone said about the Bogy situation, you're probably going to need help. There's got to be at least one high-ish level person you know or something that can help.
