I was looking at the topic asking for good solo sopts for level ^% and up, but what about the other levels? If you have ideas for good soloing spots for any level, post it here. That way, no matter what level, we always have something to do while waiting for a party, or maybe even soloing as a preference.

Black Mage soloing isn't really possible until 50, where Ancient Magic comes into play. The information below is a truncated version of this page (http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/jobs.html?fjob=3;mid=112933432073224305;num=5) on Alla.

Black Mage Soloing Guide - For XXXX's Pet

XXXX's Pet: They can be elementals yagado's leechs and or Rabits Goblin's Rarabs Hobgoblin's (There are many others aswell)

Basicly Pet's have low hp amount but can con really high for example an IT might have 2,000HP (in the 50's) whereas a gob pet might have 800hp or so thus making them easy to kill

How to kill: To kill the goblin pets i genarly use AM in the 50's in my case freeze which is 96% of the time 1 hit ko. out of all the AM's i shot off were 1 hit kill (but i got unlucky and resist making me almost die but thanks to blink and earth staff i made it to zone) You can also use 2/3 hit spells which i will explain how to not get agro

Ways to not get agro if resist or lower tier: If the goblin cant see his pet and you cast on his pet up from behind and your behind the mob then in theroy the mob should come after you from behind. (please note like many thfs know summon pets agro by sound and may still agro if you do not 1 hit the yag or demon)

Respawning pets: Normally about 20~40 seconds the XXXX will summon a new pet or elemental thus making it posible to chain. (while XPing i casted AM rested by time i got up to recast i gained 400MP from dark staff and +5 mp cookie and still got chain 5)

Mob Levels and Locations: (NOTE: These are level of the MOB, so try to kill stuff 2-4 levels higher then your current level)

Name Lvl Zone Family
Fomor's Elemental 43 - 49 | Misareaux Coast | Elemental
Fomor's Wyvern 44 - 49 | Misareaux Coast | Wyvern
Demon's Elemental 45 - 53 | Castle Zvahl Keep | Elemental
Goblin's Rabbit 48 - 50 | Cape Teriggan | Rabbit
Goblin's Leech 48 - 50 | Labyrinth of Onzozo | Leech
Gigas's Tiger 48 - 50 | Xarcabard | Tiger
Fomor's Bats 49 - 51 | Sacrarium | Bats
Fomor's Wyvern 49 - 51 Sacrarium | Wyvern
Fomor's Elemental 49 - 51 | Sacrarium | Elemental
Gigas's Bat 53 - 55 | Delkfutt's Upper Tower | Giant Bat
Tonberry's Elemental 53 - 55 | Den of Rancor | Elemental
Goblin's Leech 53 - 55 | Gustav Tunnel | Leech
Goblin's Bats 53 - 55 | Ifrit's Cauldron | Bats
Sahagin's Wyvern 58 - 60 | Sea Serpent Grotto | Wyvern
Goblin's Bat 58 - 61 | Pso'Xja | Giant Bat
Yagudo's Elemental 60 - 62 | Sacrificial Chamber | Elemental
Goblin's Bat 61 - 74 | Newton Movalpolos | Giant Bat
Fomor's Wyvern 72 - 74 | Lufaise Meadows | Wyvern
Fomor's Bat 72 - 74 | Lufaise Meadows | Giant Bat
Fomor's Elemental 72 - 74 | Lufaise Meadows | Elemental

Notes:
Do not try this if your not willing to die.. YOU will die at some point.

By the time your level 60+ AM no longer 1 hit kills sadly but usly 3 lvIII tiers will or maybe 2 III's and 1 II (Tier means level of spell)

XP will be good and you will have tuns of fun doing this! xD

Some Wyverns only spawn when you hit the mob

Enjoy!

You can also look up pets yourself on Somepage (http://ffxi.somepage.com/mobdb/). Just do a search for 's in the level range 50-75.

I did a little bit of this myself, it was fun and exciting. Worst part is when the Beastmaster starts beating on you, if he sees you. I did bats in Upper Delkfutt's and Newton Movalpolos. Two different level ranges, but I forget the levels.

NOTE: Stay away from Wajaom Fomor's Bats, they don't follow the low HP rule. I did a full blast Flare on one once and it barely scratched him. Good thing I did it just outside Al Zahbi.

There's a brilliant solo guide stickied in the BLM forums on Killing Ifrit. That'll take you to Lv70ish from Lv20ish (I believe). Just be prepared to accept death should it come your way - and it will.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Its very possible to solo. See BLMs doing it all the time when I'm out soloing myself as BST or even when I'm about to go burn with some other BLMs in Mount Z as COR.

They can solo and they do so at many levels of the game.

Since SE decided to show us the shaft with the introduction of melee burn parties, it is almost impossible to get a regular party as BLM. The only options for us now are usually soloing, going duo/trio with another BLM or RDM, or go full blown Manaburn.

I did the last... hmm... 60 merit points or so solo/duo on bugs on Mt. Z. So yeah, BLM can solo.

You fail. Have you even taken blm past 35? Apparently, you have more experience than I do on this matter.

Since SE decided to show us the shaft with the introduction of melee burn parties...

I don't believe TP Burn was a feature of ToA as TP burn existed well before that expansion, we just called 'em Arrowburn and Rampage PTs. It took not one EXP buff, but two to three, before people to realized EXPing on VT was worthwhile - that lightbulb had to be shoved into the community's peabrained "EXP per kill" mentality. Yet it was always viable before that.

TP Burn is a community trend. It may be a result of game design, but the players don't have to abide by community trends, so blame the community.

SE doesn't make the trends, all they can do is try to alter them (see SAM job adjustment). They can't make us form balanced PTs.

Nah, ToUA made it a lot more worth while to do so. In case you've been living in a hole somewhere, there is a xp bonus introduced to ToUA areas. This makes long chains of T~VT's (which is what TP burns do) a lot more efficient than shorter chains of IT~IT++ (which is what traditional parties tend to do).

The refresh and regen bonus made roaming parties (again, for TP parties, cause BLMs can't really roam, we need our butts firmly planted on the floor) more sustainable.

Also a bird that mimics spells ( </3 colibris ) again made sure that BLM will not have a place in parties that fought this mob.

Yes, arrowburn existed at some point (and was promptly nerfed), so did a mnk burn and other type of TP burn parties, but they were never this popular and was never 'main stream' before the introduction of ToUA. Just try and find a conventional party that actually wants BLM between the level of 55 and 75. They still exist, but they are rare.

Not complaining though, cause being able to solo for meaningful xp now in Mt. Z pwntz. Just sometimes, I wish SE didn't made us the outcasts in the XPing world.

...blah blah blah.

I stated we have three EXP buffs. Literacy FTW!

I also happened to explain that EXPing on T and VT was viable in RoZ and CoP days. It was, still is and as opposed to raking in subpar EXP per hour in overcamped ToA zones, you could be getting it on T and VT in CoP or RoZ zones. the 10K+ EXP per hour didn't begin in ToA zones, I saw 20k an hour well before that.

That seems like a great list, but there is a gap between 55 to 58... what do you do there? x_x

You can also check out the Beastmaster Anthologies on the BST forum, BLM happens to solo at very comprable levels to BST. Its just in any case with soloing EXP that you're going to feel a dry spell at some levels, so its not a problem unique to soloing BLM.

Since it's relevant, someone posted a soloing BLM guide on KI. It's actually got some good tips and VERY detailed camp spots, so I suggest anyone leveling BLM looking for stuff to do should check it out.

*EDIT*

Scratch that link actually, someone took the authors guide(gave credit and original link of course) and put it on Wiki, so its much easier to read. Plus it means you don't have to go to lolKI. So once again, check it out as the soloing tips are a good alternative if you can't get an invite but don't want to go back to town to craft.

Just thought Id update this thread, as I recently tried this BLM solo thing on my 33 BLM seeming as I couldnt get or make a pt.

So I went to The Sanctary of Whatever, and here are my experiences.

I went as BLM/NIN - 1 for Dual Wield Solid Wands (+INT FTW) and also, more importantly, Shadows, ate Melon Pie for +INT.

Went after the Goblin Leeches, and although I died a few (actually, quite a few) times, I would still recommend it. My deaths were down to bad luck and impatience.

It took me, on average, 3 spells to kill a leech, for 200+ exp per go. I got chain 2 somehow with emp band for 375 - this as solo blm was amazing for me.

I pulled with Stone II, making sure I was in an open spot, and followed by either Firaga then Blizzaga or Stone II again.

I could rest and wait for the Gobby to resummon the Leech again, and by the time it done that, I had recovered most of the MP spent. I could also do 2 full kills without resting.

Id say of 20 leeches I killed, i got about 4 resists which got me killed. The other deaths were due to bat aggro, and twice was me HP'ing back to the OP, and not checking coast was clear so dieing again from aggro :p

Definately a fun experience.

I hit 75 BLM way back in 04, so when ToAU came out, i thought what the hey, I would go explore some. While in my exploration I came across a few T mobs, and yeah it kicked in, before I knew it I had sleep off, and was nuking, then stun sleep and finish nuked. It felt good and before long I was out there just killing for merits, or getting xp back from a past Dynamis run or sky run.

Heres what you do in this situation with any job if you want your lvls.

For lvl 55-58 you should type this.

/sea all 53-57 and press enter and you will get everyone on your server at those lvls around your present lvl 53-57. Then create your own party out of the people seeking. If you learn to put parties together your experience ingame will be better as you will not have to wait so much, you control your own destiny, and you can see clear as day your chances at even getting a party cuz you can see everyone you could possibly party with righ there. You will probably find yourself oftenly surprised when you see whole good parties that can be put together in perfect lvl range all just seeking. Someone has to do it right?

Goblin Trader pet Spiders in Eastern Altep (near the Outpost, set HP there).

Guide suggests Pso'Xja CryptonBerry Elementals after iirc, but I went duoing Pet Rabbits at Cape Terrigan up to 42.

I know this is a necro but was wondering about PSO XJA uncapped camp ive heard about, has anyone tried this. Currently I am working in Cape Terrigan, but there is lots of danger (rapotrs, crabs, gobs, cokatrice, rabits). I get about 2 kills per death, so roughly staying at the same level.

I am BLM/NIN

56+26INT

Takes me me 3-4 teir 2's or 3+ teir 1(drain)

By the time I get them down I get aggro from something else and die. Its driving me nuts.

What level BLM are we talking here? I never remember hearing about any solo spots in Cape Terrigan, and I know that place is usually a ~60-65 party XP spot.

I know a buddy and I were duoing Gob Pets in Cape Terrigan, we would 2 shot them, one spell from each of us and it was pretty much dead. If one resisted, the other usually got it. But I think this was 30's to 40's, don't remember the exact level.

I was able to get parties with my BLM until I hit about lv60. After that it was tough because ToAU had come out and drained all the melee jobs, but I did manage to get a few parties here and there. 60-62 is good in Aydeewa, 64-66 can party up @ Mt. Z, and after that you can sometimes get an invite for the camps out near Azoupe Isle (yeah.. a BLM vs. Imps is rough, bring lotsa echos).
