By offering up this new thread, I'm hoping to retire a few stickies in this forum to make the place a little cleaner looking.

Threads I'm looking to retire/unsticky:

- How To Form and Function a Proper Party - Basics of Partying (http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/party-etiquette-fighting-tactics/19736-how-form-function-proper-party-basics-partying.html): Only one of the link/topic promised in OP was ever added to the first post.

- How to Join PT / Game Manners (with JP Players) (http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/party-etiquette-fighting-tactics/979-how-join-pt-game-manners-jp-players.html):
Linked to in The EXP Party Index. (Note: this thread's OP didn't quite cover the difference in JP and NA party mentality, which Tuffless did.)

- Yet another one of StarvingArtist's Renkei Charts (http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/party-etiquette-fighting-tactics/37155-yet-another-one-starvingartists-renkei-charts.html): Not maintained; link in OP no longer works.

If one of the moderators would please decide if stickying this "index" can retire those old threads, that'd be great.

Thanks.

- Itazura

I've reviewed those old posts and verified that they are indeed out of date. Old outdated posts retired and unstickied, as requested.

Please note that one of the resource links: Experience Points table (http://www.nephilim-x.com/info/exp.html) is incorrect for every level above 50. The required EXP to next level is one row off. For the correct numbers, refer to http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Experience_Points

I think you perhaps misslooked, both charts seem correct. The only thing I noticed is that Wiki says at level 50, you need 7,800 exp to level up.

Edit: The total exp is different too.

I think you perhaps misslooked, both charts seem correct. The only thing I noticed is that Wiki says at level 50, you need 7,800 exp to level up.

Edit: The total exp is different too.
It almost looks like the chart at nephilim-x changes the interpretation of what each row shows after level 50. From level 1 to 50, it shows how much exp you need to reach the level shown. In other words, if the row shows N as the level, it shows the exp you need to get from level N-1 to level N.

The rows for level 51 and up show the amount of exp you need to reach the next level above that. If the row shows N as the level, it shows the exp you need to get from level N to level N+1.

Consequently, this shift leaves out 50 to 51, where you need 7800 exp (which is correctly reported at wiki). Wiki leaves out the 44k you need once you reach level 75 to cap your exp. So compare the total exp given in the last row of the wiki page to the total exp given for row 74. If you take the difference, you'll find the 7800 exp which is missing from the chart at nephilim-x.

Care to explain what these arrows mean?

Think of it as A+, A, and A-.

β†— = +
β†˜ = -

Now this is worthy of my 100th thanks. (See pet peeve thread for more info on that) Exceptional compilation, and certainly worthy of a sticky.

I didn't notice the "," earlier and while I did momentarily think that's what the arrows meant, in my confusion, I thought it said that "RDMs are horrible healers" :P

That blue and underline combination does not work well here. Sometimes, less is best.

I was trying to keep the info compact and accessible with that notation. Have not trouble distinguishing between "," and "β†˜" on my computers, however, and all the coloring are default, I think.

β†— ===== Tier 1 (Superb)
no arrow = Tier 2 (Capable)
β†˜ ===== Tier 3 (Adequate/Situational)

Generally, you want Tier 2 (or above) for any role, but each party's particular combination and dynamics ultimately determine the partying experience.

Those rankings are personal judgements.

Oh, and DDs are not ranked. (Though, with the last update, maybe all two-handers should get a β†—, while all one-handers should be automatically sentenced to the dreaded β†˜ category...)

You mean just like 2hd were β†˜ and 1hd were β†—for 5 years running?

lol. In theory, that's somewhat true. In practice, I saw plenty of both good and bad one-handers and two-handers on the climb to Lv.70, and have to say that distinction is not a good predictor for DD ability.

There were just too much variation for a meaningful ranking of DDs, IMO, so I skipped that. Going to see if S-E will be fixing the update first, before I consider ranking DDs. (Chances are, I won't.)

Well, there were some exceptions to that. THFs are 1 handers, but most people would have put them under β†˜. SAMs were 2 handers, but most people would have either put them under β†— or no arrow at all.

The sign that this update is broken is if the new rule of 2hd = β†— and 1hd = β†˜ always holds true, regardless of other factors. If MNKs exp with Staves, NINs exp with GKatanas, and THFs just don't exp at all, that would be a bad sign.

Sorry, I am a returning player looking for exp locales for ceratian levels.

Its been a while so I don't recall where to go for exp parties. Also, things may have changed since I last played, and places I did go to lvl are no longer used.

I checked the links on this sticky and apparently the links are no longer valid.

I will continue to search through the forum and other sites, but I was hoping someone could point me to the right direction. :)

The FFXIclopedia camp location guides were moved; the links should be fixed now. (The Campsitarus ones were both working.)
