View Full Version : Is this a possible Chocobo Digging exploit?

I saw a thread on Alla which was complaining about RMT Chocobo Digging activity. Specifically, that one character seemed to be digging up only gold beastcoins(based on AH sales history). This character spent hours and hours digging at a very high level of digging skill (yes, someone from the thread actually monitored him at least 1 RL day).

Could this be what the digger is doing?

1) Fill inventory with 1 Gold Beastcoin and the rest with stacks of Gysahl Greens. (full inventory)

2) Dig, dig, dig - If the item dug up is a Gold Beastcoin, it stacks automatically with the one in inventory. If the item is not a Gold Beastcoin, the item is not counted toward 100 item limit. (Is this true? I'm pretty sure "regretfully let go" fish aren't counted toward the fish limit.)

3) When the inventory is no longer full, unstack something (could even be a stack of arrows - anything that can be unstacked to take up inventory space). When there are multiple Gold Beastcoins, unstack them.

4) Repeat ad nauseam.

There's only one good way to find out: try the alleged bug to see if it works. The alleged bug abused could simply be tossing all other items, rather than using an exploit. How many beastcoins is he selling each day? Is it always 8 to 9 stacks?

If you verify the exploit, you should be able to avoid any punishment by reporting to the GM your findings and explaining that you won't be doing it any more.

If you verify the exploit, you should be able to avoid any punishment by reporting to the GM your findings and explaining that you won't be doing it any more. Unfortunately, my digging skill is 0 (or whatever the lowest level is called) so it's very difficult for me personally to verify this possible "exploit". I am hoping that an experienced digger (high level skill) might be able to answer my question. Even if a digger throws away unwanted items it still counts toward the 100 item limit per RL day. So either he is somehow going beyond this limit or somehow he is limiting the items to Gold Beastcoins.

I don't know what the character's average sales are, but for instance he sold 4 stacks of Gold Beastcoins and 5 stacks of Gold Ingots one day recently. It's always possible there are multiple characters gathering materials and this one is the seller.

In any case, my main concern is that this digging issue could be an unfair exploit whether or not it's done by RMT. Although, certainly this could be an unusual way to "target" items (like targeting fish with certain bait).

This trick for sure does not work with Fishing, since fishing doesn't auto-stack items. Digging, however, might. I don't have any skill in digging, so cannot verify, but if we're seeing that kind of activity from someone who is known to dig "a lot", it would be a good indicator of a problem. There's certainly enough circumstantial evidence to at least explore the possibility.

Digging autostacks, like stuff involving Urhgan currency.

This could work, but compared to what you can dig up on a good day, I can't imagine it's worth it... unless goldbeastcions have gotten much more worthwhile since I left.

I always see some ppl digging vigorously. Do most ppl dig for the sheer joy of it and/or to lvl up digging? I dont see how this can be worthwhile with the time you spend considering that most items in a zone that are worth anything are usually very rare.
