PlayOnline problem

I just got my copy off the game and installed it. When im supposed to go in on playonline and create myself an account the whole playonline program hangs itself. It hangs itself at the beginning, when i start the program. I tried with re-installing the game but nothing helps..

can someone plz help me... :(

what are your computer specs? Do you ever see any error messages?

I got over 4000 on the benchmark so i know my computer can handle it. And i never got any error messages under the installation or anything. Ive installed the game, POV, and the addon without any problems. When i try to open Playonline to get myself an account it stops at the loading screen and i cant get any further.

ive upgraded the drivers to my grafics and sound card, ill try to re-install it....again....

One question too: When am i supposed to insert the cd-key?? ive never gad any chances to input mine, and where is my cd-key?? is it the blue (and red for the addon) pappers thats inside a plastic bag?? Or where is it?

what version of directx are you using?

ive tried with both 8.1 and 9.0 and neither of them are working, and ive tested to install DirectX from the cd but that didnt help

I dont remember which game I was having problems with recently but I use XP too... I right clicked on the .exe for the game and choose to run it for compatability with windows 98 and it worked....

But I mean I shuoldn't have to go through that every damn time I want to play the game....

well i only got XP installed on the comp i got FFXI installed on so i cant make the file compatabile with windows 98 or any other os, or can i??

Maybe the problem is that i got Home installed not Proffesional what do you guys think?

The problem is fixed, it just started to work when i dubbel/clicked it today

what you had experienced is very similar to what i am experiencing right now. I had the game installed and was playing it for a month when suddenly yesterday, it just hanged and i have to reset my pc.

Tried to log on and it hanged now at the beginning, i cant even connect to the servers anymore. I am sure my pc is capable of handling the game cos i have been playing for a month, I have since formatted and reinstalled the os and its still the same, please help !!

i upgraded all my drivers and re-installed it, it still didnt work so i gave up. Then after a few days i thought ill try it again and then i got in.

Dont think i did something special more that that

Hi no1_cloud,

thanks for your reply. There is an emergency patch going on with POL and the date when POL starts having the problem coincides with when i have mine. I have its a server side kinda thingy.

Hopefully i will be able to patch the damn thing tonite and be done with it.
