So it is my understanding that mnd influences white magic and int influences ele magic...(correct me if i am wrong) Is there a corresponding stat for dark magic?

How Long do the effects from the absorb spells last? How fast do they dissapate when they start to fade?

Dark magic will affect the chance of the spell landing, verses resisting agaisnt a mob. I am sure there is a duration that each "absorb" spell lasts, but i dont beleive its affected by dark magic skill. There is gear, such as the drk jse set, that "enhances" the longevity and potency of absorb spells.

Dark and Black Magic are indeed affected by INT. I'm not sure exactly how much effect INT has on Absorbs though. I believe it helps with resistance rates, and now how much of the stat is drained.

Each absorb usually sucks in between 12 and 19, and it quickly diminishes over time by 1 point a tic (3 seconds, give or take in the case of absorbs).

I read in some other thread on some other site that the amount that is absorbed goes up as your level increases. can anybody verify this?

So here are my thoughts:

if you could reliably count on the abs-spells to land by perhaps subbing /blm, they would be pretty formidable.

How about magic bursting an abs spell. I would think that would greatly increase the amount absorbed to an insane level. imagine absorbing +40 strength, dex, vit or even int. I think that would be bigger than beserk/ double attack.

It doesn't really add anything to the absorbs, it's just more likely to absorb the full amount. I've tried it on my 45 DRK. I can't vouch for MAB having any effect on them however as I have no experience with DRK/BLM.

Absorbs do not gain potency as you level. A fully unresisted Absorb-stat spell will give I believe +21 to that stat, and then slowly loose over time. The only thing that will effect this is your Dark Magic Skill for resists, and JSE adds to the amount of time that the stat is drained, but not the potency.

Since there is no "Attack" part to this, MAB won't effect Absorb-stats, but in general, MAB doesn't have any bearing on any Dark magic.
