Make some attempts at proper spelling, punctuations, and sentences. Please. >_< (What the heck does "i like be df person" mean, anyway?!)

You can still use the Lv.29 Kampf set for every slot except the head. (Mithra can use the Savage Gauntlets in the hands slot.) Upgrade head to the Iron Musketeer's Armet.

For waist, I used the Warrior's Belt +1 until the Life Belt becomes usable, but the Tilt Belt is pretty cheap for a little accuracy. You can pick up an Earth Mantle or stick to the High Breath Mantle for the back.

No big change needed in other slots; stick to Verve Rings, Medieval Collar, Buckler Earring, and Mercenary Earring for defensive build, and they are all Lv.36 or lower. For weaponskills macros or mixed defensive/offensive builds, I used Puissance Rings, Spike Necklace, and Beetle Earring +1's. I guess you can also macro in Republican Subligar for WS, but that may be hazardous to your teammates' eyesight, depending on your race and gender.

If you're obsessed, you can also macro in Holy Phial for Cure's, and carry INT and MND rings for magic type weaponskills, and a Venerer Ring for TP building. Going that far, though, seem a little extreme, even to me. (But, I do it anyway.) I also have a Divine Earring for my Flash macro...

You'll want keep your sword updated as well; look at http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/advanced.php for selection.

IfritnoItazura from above already gives excellent advice.

If your shield skill is not capped, or having a hard time to stay capped, I suggest to use a size 1 shield (Bucker-type or Targe-type) until the skill is capped, then switch back to size 3 shield (Kite-type, like the Jennet Shield you already have). Whenever your shield skill is lagging behind, time for size 1 shield ^^

Being dyslexic is not an excuse at not attempting to do better. (No idea what "disbraxic" is, though.) We are human, and we have tools.

I'm near sighted, so I wear glasses. You can't spell? Use Firefox 2.0 (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/)'s built in spell checker. (For grammar, maybe you would be better off working with teachers with specialized training if some disability is interfering.)

Besides, upgrading your writing skill is like upgrading your PLD equipment--you'll do better, and have more fun. ;)

The problem with size 1 shields is that they only take off around 25% of damage on shield proc. Per Armando's testing (http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/paladin/55139-shield-data-size-2-vs-size-3-a.html), I would say use size 2 (round shields), which has 45% damage reduction, instead of going to down to size 1, if your skill is really under capped. Either way, keep the size 3 (kite shields) on you for their 60% damage reduction--don't leave the mog house without it.

At level 52, you gain access to Master Shield (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Master_Shield), a size 2 shield with Shield Skill +10, making size 1 completely unnecessary from that point on, in my opinion.

To me, it seems shield skill does not impact proc rate by much. I did my own little test a while ago, and here is the result:

http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/632011-post28.html

And the result seems to be closed to Armando's testing:

http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/paladin/55139-shield-data-size-2-vs-size-3-a.html

I am fairly convinced that shield skill does not impact proc rate by much; the skill may affect something else, i am not sure.

I promptly sold my Master Shield after my little test in Crawler's Nest <.<

However, I am very certain that you would skill up faster using size 1 shield. During my levels using Musketeer Commander's Shield, my shield skill capped much faster than my sword >.>

Now I am using TK+1, sword skill always capped first before the shield skill.

Hmm. If that's the case, then I've misinterpreted Armando's postings.

I do find your testing indicating lack of utility for shield skill to be odd, if not disturbing. >_<;

As for my own experience, I've stuck to Size 3 shield ever since I could equip Kite Shield, until Lv.52. For that or whatever the reason, my shield skill steadily fell behind.

At Lv.52, I switched to Master Shield. I noticed more skill up's, but that could be just placebo effect. At Lv.53, I finally broke down and bought a Buckler Earring. (Really should have snagged it when it was cheap. /sigh)

Only used the combination of Master Shield + Buckler in one session so far (party last Sunday), but I noticed significantly more skill up, even before I hit Lv.54. Could be a freak (and happy) accident, or maybe 13 skill+ pushed me over some threshold.

In any case, I'd like to think adding shield skill equipment has benefit, even if something else may do more for a PLD's performance. If nothing else, it makes me feel better for trying something to get my shield skill to go up faster without going down to size 1 shield. >_>;
