My LS is looking to make some cash, and new things to do, and we are looking into trying some BCNMs. Between the 4 active people, we have prolly almost 8 stacks of beastman seals to use.

We have never done a BCNM yet. I've read up on them (http://ffxi.somepage.com/bcnm/), and know how they work, but with so many of them I'm not sure how we would fare in any given one.

To start off, maybe some easy ones just to get the feel of the instance. Then down the road maybe a more challenging one with better drops.

If you could name one or two BCNMs, and the job combinations and stragies, I would appreciate it. I'll even reward you with ginger cookies!!!

Here is a snapshot of our race/job levels...

Thank you!

edit: also, probably prefer a 3 member BCNM, as just getting 3 of us on at once can be a chore, much less all 4 and finding 2 others to take part...

I'm surprised there isn't a section here devoted to in depth BCNM fights and strategies!

hmmm I think you should be able to do Royal Jelly.

Set-up NIN/War, RNG/NIN, WHM/BLM

NIN take away and RNG stays back with arrows. WHM casts haste on NIN then protectra + Shellra then haste on RNG.

Start on the left and have the WHM cast Silence and bind alternate on each one and work your way round if you do it qucik then Queen Jelly shouldn't pop

Food Recommends

NIN: Normal Nin food
RNG: Normal RNG food
WHM Yag drinks about 6-7 for 3 runs +MP enchancing stuff

Drops can include Archers Ring and Utsemi: Ni

You could do BCNM20 Charming Trio in Balga's Dias also. It's a 3-man 20-cap fight. Setup is basically war, whm, and any non-blunt damage DD like drk.

Don't bother to buff up much because the leeches can steal your effects, even food and drink. War runs in at the start and gets aggro from all 3 leeches and you take them down one at a time. DO NOT touch either of the two leeches you're not fighting until you're done with your current target, and make sure auto-targeting is off so the war and the DD don't accidientally swing at two different mobs when the current one dies.

So long as you only touch one at a time, the whm can't get hate from the two undamaged leeches, so the war only has to worry about voking one target. The hardest job is really the whm's. Whoever heals has to know how to heal as much as possible with as little mp as possible and stay under the hate line. If you can do that you're golden.

Mannequin hands are a 100% drop. You can't AH them, only bazaar them, which can be inconvenient, but they're worth good money. Like 600k~ on Lakshmi last time I checked. I think the head and body can also drop, but with a much lower chance.

Edit:
Nevermind, I forgot to look at the graphic. >_>;
BCNM40 Under Observation.
Our setup: RDM/NIN, NIN/RDM, NIN/BLM.

- RDM/NIN kites the Sobbing Eyes monster with Gravity, Bind, and Utsusemi.
- NIN's take care of Compound Eyes, one each. No melee; use attack Ninjutsu while facing away from the little ones.
- NIN/RDM is responsible for curing NIN/BLM if needed.
- NIN/BLM is responsible for Elemental Seal + Jubaku on the Sobbing Eyes once the Compund Eyes are dead.
- NIN's then team up with RDM and attack Sobbing Eyes; set up a triangle, bounce it around. Everyone faces away.
- RDM shift to enfeebler and healer role--can free nuke once the critter's low in health.
- Team wins, open box!

Peacock Charm? Very, very rare. Yet, we don't usually walk away with less than 200k each (460k+ per person, last time), for a three orb run. Nothing to get excited about, but not bad for a very easy BCNM.
Don't really need food, but our NIN/RDM (that would be me) uses melon pie for INT and MP.

Royal Jelly is a breeze. I came out of it with Erase and Ni.. I also got an Archer's Ring to drop, but I shall never speak of that episode except to say that it never made it back to the AH...

You may wish to save your Beastman's Seals for later unless you need Ni/Erase (most people need at least one of these). A popular one that has fallen by the wayside due to dropping prices is Wings of Fury which can be duoed by two BSTs. According to your roster, none of you are BSTs, but that's ok because there's more than one way to skin a cat. Check out Alla (http://ffxi.allakazam.com/)(even though I hate to send you there)--strategies are plentiful (but not always useful).

If you want to know (in general) what the most valuable BCNMs and KSNMs are you can look at this page: http://www.ffxiah.com/bcnm.php. Just remember to select your server in the upper left to make it as accurate as possible, and note that it does not take into account relative drop rates for the items in the drop list--the value is taken as if each item has the same drop probability and furthermore that there is no significant variance in the number of drops per run between the various BCNMs.

I would go with the Royal Jelly idea. Two DD's and a WHM or RDM--very simple. Ranger's get the love here because of the Binding Jelly. Monks get the thumbs down because of utter lack of ranged attack when bound. A bad bind could conceivably cause you to lose, but it's a rare thing. It's seriously easy... Gravity is more effective than Bind. WHM cannot use Gravity, but they can use Haste--Column A/Column B stuff use what suits. Elemental Seal is excellent so either WHM or RDM subs BLM for that. I think I give the gold star to the RDM though, because of Gravity, Convert, and their better physical damage rate vs. Slimes using an En- spell (The mage is advised to assist in the killing of the last 1 or two slimes).

Thanks for the tips everyone :)
