Changing name

Dont really know where to put this question but I think here is ok...
If not you can always delete your character, make a mule character with that name, and then restore your old character and give it a different name
Can you do that to change your name? o.O Was just scanning some old posts and found that. I'd test it personally but the registration servers seem to be acting up so dont want to risk messing it up so I cant play for weeks, just wondering if anyone can confirm it.

What do they mean by "restore"? As in keeping all old items? Hmm, I don't know.

You just deactivate you ID then reactivate it after making a Mule with the same name, I thought if you deactivated tho the server still registers your name.

I do believe the name becomes becomes available after a while though, just didn't know how soon.

They just need to put some Namingway NPCs in each town pub or tavern. Like let him change your name one time for a fee of 10k.

I remember hearing this before.
In fact, a poster said she brought this up to a GM, then the GM told her he was putting a note on her account to watch incase she tried it, and to punish her if she did. She got pretty unhappy about all that business, if I recall correctly.
She may have been lieing about the whole GM thing, but to play it safe I wouldn't let any GM's know about it beforehand.

yea you can never be truely sure about these things.To tell the truth if somebody did do it unless i knew this person personally i still wouldn't chance it.
A pic can be easily falsified.

Test it with a mule before you try it on your main character. Make a level 1 and name it something, delete ID, try to make another with the same name. Although, if it works, you might be losing your one chance to change your name :evil:

Maybe have a friend try it with a mule.

This does work. A former linkshell member of mine wanted to change his name because he wanted to avoid certain people and never talk to them again (dont know why) so he did exactly what the op said.

He had to call tech. support for them to do the name change though i think.
