Just wondering. Is there any faster way of getting fishing skill up. I have used over 20+ stack of little worm and I'm only at level 7 for fishing. After hitting 7 I have only fished in Bastok. Any advice how to increase it faster. I want to try to get it to 100. But with the rate I'm going at it will take forever. Thanks for advice.
There is a ring that increase skill up rate

However, the fact is, fishing is a slow skill to raise. It will always be slow and will only get slower.

There is a guide at www.titanictus.com for both Skillup with moat carp and skillup fastest.

If you follow the moat carp guide, you can get to 50 and get your Lu Shangs when it's time. If you follow the fast guide... well... You'll skill up faster, but once you hit the wall without Lu Shangs, you'll have to go back and fish up all the moat carps you didn't fish up when you should've been following the moat carp guide.
In short, only use the fast skilling guide if you can afford to buy your Lu Shangs or the moat carp to get it. Otherwise, you're probably better off with the moat carp guide.

Fishing in this game has always been a joke. 10 stacks of targeted fish later, an i got .2 skill up. an if the fish are 35-45, an im 32. i should get more then that...

Fishing does have slow skillups, but it's also the only craft that consistently pulls in money (sometimes a little, sometimes a lot) every time you go to gain skill. Most crafts lose money pretty steadily beyond level 60 - occasionally sprinkled with the odd profit, but mostly losses. That's never true with Fishing.

Thank you all. I guess I have to suck it up and keep on doing it until I start cursing at my monitor. =)

I leveled my fishing to 30 a few months back. I made money all the way to 30 even with buying the rods and bait. Fishing is funny sometimes though. With the right rod and bait, you can fish up things that are 40-50 levels above your skill. With a slice of bluetail and mithra fishing rod, a friend of mine was pulling up marlins (61 skill) @ level 9.

IMHO, don't burn out trying to reach 100 skill. If you really want to save some time, check the moon phase, target the fish at proper level range, with the proper rod and proper bait. Zone every hour, and avoid the fatique. Don't flood the AH with the same fish to kill everyone's profit. As long as you target for fish that can skillup, your fishing skill will eventually go up. You can gain profit on the way to 100 skill.

yew rods are ironically the best rods for high level fishermen since they target large fish. if they break? you can either repair them with much lower woodworking skill or buy a new one cheap.
