Ok this may sound stupid but ill ask anyways. Say u got to lvl 60 and ur a darkknight/blackmage, since im guessing lvl 60 is highest u can go, if you change ur job will u get the lvl 60 stuff for that job u changed into? or will the levels reset? and if you did change you job u dont keep the skills u had from ur previous job right?

You'll lose everything unless you use it as a sub job, I think.

Characters themselves dont have levels, jobs do. All jobs are independant of each other, you can be a Level 50 warrior, level 48 white mage, level 35 black mage and level 23 summoner if you want, but from the start they all would be Level 1.

Stats are decided by current job/support job and race, if you have Level 1 Warrior/Level 1 Thief, then you'll have Level 1 stats+bonus for sub-job for level 1...

so is it possible to get max lvl for all jobs?

Yes but it would take a loooooooooooong time, consider Level 65 (current level cap in Japan version) isn't the highest. From rumors and logic the real cap would ultimately be 255, but this might not be.

In any case just having all jobs at Level 65 will take you long enough, believe me.

If you have a main job of 30 lets say Warrior and if you have a sub job of a Monk the sub job will only get half of your main job
IE:
Main Job: Warrior: lvl 30
Sub Job: Monk: lvl15

You can choose to use 2 classes at once, but there's no stopping you from changing them anytime from your MogHouse. If you have White Mage/Black Mage at Level 60 (for both) and want to play Thief, that you leveled to 20 previously, you'll be able to. It adds more versatility: only 2 classes at once yes, but you can take all the others you leveled and be ready right away too.

hum.....pretty good news...i also have another question though....what about the equipment? Do all level 30 warriors wear the same things? are there LOTS of possible equipments? just want to know more about "uniqueness"...

EDIT: also....is it only the main class that determines your appearence? or has the second one an impact also? (ex: will a lvl 30 warrior/monk look pretty much the same as a lvl 30 warrior/paladin? or something else?)

I don't know too much about equipment, but I do know that your support job doesn't affect what you can wear. A warrior/paladin would be able to wear the same as a warrior/dark knight or monk or thief or whatever. I should point out to "be able to" as its not something you are forced to do (you can surely choose different armors, but one suited to your main job).

so hum....if someone would really want to stand out and make a blkmage/paladin the little mage could be in plate armor?? or am i totally wrong? XD!!

You can only wear what your main class allows. That specific combo can only wear blm equipment.

alright thanks! So the usefulness of the second job is only getting a stat boost and some additionnal skills?

In a word. Yes.
