I know it'll sound a lil ubsurd but...
would you ever make an option to buy Content IDs with gil in game. Make an NPC like World passes. It'll go something like this.
NPC gives confrimation code for 4k gil
User logs in>> uses Confirmation code to start new account process.
SE emails new FFXI key codes to register new account thru POL e-mail.
User does the usual payment and registration.
So in the end you'll have a additional mule on your original account thats only $1 not another acocunt where theres andother $13.
I think SE should implementsomething like this. Not now maybe around the time they decide to stop making Expansions for FFXI. I od see a down fall tho...those with mass amounts of gil flooding the NPC for confirmation codes to mass mule and to garden or synth or whatever...hence inflating the prices even more. but then again SE made a limit to how many other accounts you can put on one Content ID i think its like 36..?
I do find it difficult finding either the PS2 version or the PC versions in stores. i know the best buys in my area only carry the expansions and now the released Vanadel collection '07 but when thats all bought out whats left? I know Amazon and ebay are other options but you have to pay for shipping and that can sometimes be just as much as the game...a lil incoveinent for just FFXI key codes...Maybe something to think about.
any other thoughts will be welcomed.

I like the idea of setting up mule accounts in game.
Maybe I'm confused though but you focus on the mule account, but talk about finding codes for the game. You don't need additional codes for the game unless you set up a completely seperate $13/month main account. A 2nd content ID on your account just uses the same codes as the account it's on.

I'm also confused with this post. There's no gil, world passes, etc needed for a mule. Just buy another content ID through POL. In then end you're still paying $13.

Well, the idea of registering at an NPC instead of the sometimes clunky POL system is nice though.

Don't you need another FFXI registration code for another mule acocunt?? i;ve searched POL to set up mule accounts and didn't find anything. This is what i did for my 2nd mule. Since i bought the Vana collection 06 i had a buddy pass so i logged in used the FFXI reg codes and got myself another mule. So i thought you could only get FFXI codes from the games you had to buy.

No not at all. Click Games > FFXI, and when the menu pops up click Content IDs (I believe this is correct, I'm doing it from memory). In the next menu that comes up click Purchase ID or something like that; Complete the registration process (less than 2-3 minutes total), and then log into FF and the Create Character button will be selectable. Done and Done.
You can have up to 16 characters registered to one account for a grand total like $28/month.

When you click purchase ID doesn't it send you to a screen to enter a FFXI reg code?? I've never really had the need to create a mule but now that i have a nack for gardening i'm thinking about making a mule and solely garden on that so it'll free up more MH room. which reminds me i need to give my mog a "clink clink" as cocoroon would say to extend the lease on my locker...

You have to go in and purchase a new content ID. Then your mule will be on your server, just pick race, job and starting town and you are set. When you are on your mule, you keep your friends list. You will show up on friend's "Friend List" as your handle but it will show your mule's name.

You re-enter your old ID's reg codes. You don't need to enter new ones.

You can have several characters tied to 1 POL account. Content ID's created beyond the first one only cost $1.00 per additional ID.
Thusly, we don't know why you paid $13 per month, unless of course you have 14 accounts with that.
The only issue is that if you have 2 seperate machines, would require 2 accounts. You cannot log into the mule and log into your main account at the same time.

Actually I believe that you don't even need to enter reg. code after the first character is setup. All the expansions will be registered to all subsequent characters created on that account.

When you buy the additional content IDs it will ask for the reg codes tied to the first ID

I've done the mule thing far too many times. :o

Although, in my case, the original content ID I used is now sitting in some garbage dump someplace. Unfortunately, victimized by overzealous cleaning procedures. What would I do should I ever wish to set up a mule someday?
