Nooooo - Terminal Error!

Ok, just did the update and now when I start the game it brings up Fullscreen, kicks me back to desktop with error:

Terminated as error occured in FFXI. Failed to initialize Direct3D. Please check the pc has the required specs etc etc. (-1)

I was playing fine last night, nothinghas changed on PC.

Please help!

you sure "nothing" has changed on the PC? did you install or uninstall any (new) programs recently?

try reinstalling your direct X and video drivers.

Update - I changed the ffxi config res to the highest (which was what it was on) and it had reverted to 640x640.

Fine now, maybe the update reset it...?

I got that same error when I custom my FFXI resolution (via windower setting.) The game can't switch to full screen mode on its own if you're not using standard resolution.

About the game resetting itself back, I'm not sure. Are you running the game alone or running windower? Because windower will send its resolution to the game's setting, over writing.

If you happen to be using windower, then you need to close the game after the update and restart through windower.

At the end of an update, POL restarts itself and will bring up errors if you have changed the resolution through windower.
