I'm a returning player and since my old account is no more I was wondering what jobs are in high demand? I don't want to end up LFG for the whole time I have to play. I know a white mage is all ways in demand but what other classes do you look for and can't find when getting a party together?

Most wanted jobs? Dancer and geomancer :P

Depends on what level you're at really. In general mages seem to be in high demand early on and aren't wanted as much lvl 60+ while melee are in medium demand early on and are in high demand 60+.

Best piece of advice I can give you is to pick a job you like and make your own parties, that way you avoid the lfg problems.

If not into that and want job that will get invites I'd go for one of the support jobs, such as: cor, brd, rdm, smn

pld
brd
nin
rdm
cor
whm

are probably the most sought out jobs in this game.

Play what you like, not what gets you to 75 the fastest. When you play a job for charity or even popularity's sake, you're only going to end up burning yourself. Trust me, I know that all to well.

I levelled RDM and BRD to help people and man I totally hate those jobs now.

Agreed. Playing a job you hate, even if it gets you to 75, is only going to burn you out.

That being said, LFG for hours and hours can also burn you out in a different way. :P

In order of current demand:
Bard
Ninja (after level 37)
Red Mage
Corsair
White Mage
Everything else

Yup in my trek from 60 NIN to my current 74 NIN my parties have always been held up on a refresher.

BRD
RDM
COR

and even at time main healer.

But the simple fact is some days there just aren't people your level seeking. I spent a Saturday on NIN seeking and never got an invite, although I think it was the weekend after FFXII came out, but when I would /sea all xx-xx my level at the time their just weren't many people my level on, let alone seeking.

I've tried a number of jobs and am currently enjoying Cor. Makes me think, whats needed, what will work well... how are ppl positioned, can I hit the Pld with Evokers without messing up the mellees? It's all good and I am currently enjoying a relatively high demand. (I received 2 tells asking to pt on my way back to my MH tolog after my last pt) However that's all since 40 when I got Evokers, 25-38 was pretty slow. So Cor early=slower invites, Cor mid=good invites, Cor late=dunno I'm only 48 :)

let's not forget war. its the most sought out melee dd these days for spampage fun.

my list would go
brd
rdm
nin
cor
whm
war
smn
sam
mnk
then it kinda tails off into nothingness...

WAR is really only desired in two ranges though. Early (10-25) levels as a tank, and later (55+) for Rampage/DD spam (and unlike the other jobs, you can fill in the blanks and still do just fine with something other than WAR in that DD slot).

I Would say currently from 10-37 PLD is the most sought after job... where oh where did all the pld's go?
next would be
whm and blm

after 40-42

NIN
COR
RDM
BRD

Melees of course always get the backseat being that there's only hmmm 8 melee jobs...

New PLD tanks have really disapeared these days... hmm wonder why?

When letting a smn be a smn, rather than a whm, it can do some really great things for the pt. fenrir's all stat up and acc/eva up is awesome. As well as earthern ward from titan. Ive always got a kick out of smns that give rolling thunder too ^^ 4 melee with enthunder is pretty fun :D

I always enjoyed having war/nin duo tank with another war/nin or nin/war up to 40. the tanking arena is pretty shakey until then so duo tanks have always worked well for me.

but 40-55 is a dead zone. not just on war but on all melee jobs. it's a zone that not many people are constantly pt'ing at and ablities are kinda lackluster.

It depends on what jobs is LFG while you are LFG, or what job replacment of an ongoing party is looking for when you LFG.

Just play what you like, or try them all out ^^;

Heh, I noticed there was only one person who (briefly) mentioned blm as being wanted. I hear it's kind of a hassle to level. Good thing I only level blm for fun when I don't feel like a five hour tank fest with my pld.

Just wanted to get a feel for what people are looking for before I settle on a job. I used to have a 57th PLD but I've been away too long and my old account is gone so I thought I'd try another Job.

I'd love to try them all but I just don't have the time I used to have so I would rather play a job I like as well as a job thats wanted. being LFG for 2 to 3 hours and PTing for 1 or 2 is what really burnt me out originally. Though that was about the same time WoW and EQ2 came out.

Thanx for the replies I got a better feel for what to expect in terms of parties.

Right now I'm going BLM and White. I figure I got till then to decide to stick or go for some advanced jobs. I'd want a BLM to at least 17 or 18 for Warp and a white for sneak, invis and all that any way.

edit:is auto-refeash on a PLD a new thing? I don't remember having that on my PLD.

Yes, auto-refresh was added a little bit back, probably while you were out. They're trying to make PLD's a little faster, since NIN's pretty much completely over take them as far as tanking goes, in terms of demand at least(I prefer PLD's, not putting them down).

blm is wanted for end-game always. you can never have enough blm for end-game but to xp... not so much anymore. this is mainly due to the fact that everyone wants to kill fast and chain high while roaming. This kind of makes it hard for blm in these types of pt's.

All high lvl blm i see now solo or mana burn with each other. mt. zhaylom is always packed with blm.
