lvl 37 drg needs opinions on gear

hello,

i think my gear is decent for my level, but i'd like some feedback on ways to make it better. i have read a few equipment guides but for some reason i'm drawing a blank as to where to go next.

this is what i'm currently wearing:

weapon - spark lance
head - can't recall but it has no bonuses (i'm sure theres better than what i'm using)
neck - spike necklace
ears - beatle earings +1
body - mercenary doublet
hands - battle gloves? (the level 14 ones that give +3acc)
rings - Dex rings +2, can't remember what they're called
back - i think it's called the night cloak, gives me a plus to my evasion
waist - brave belt
legs - bastokan subligar
feet - mithra RSE for the + to STR

for higher levels i have some gear that i figured i would need or gear that is left over from leveling DRK. i have J. Peti, and Walkure mask. one sniper ring, and a life belt. i also have the next few lances that i'll be using.

i'd like to build for accuracy and use attack food. i currently take sushi and mithkabobs with me and use which ever one i need.

i don't have a TON of cash to go crazy buying items, but if it's important then i will get it. please let me know if there's anything i should have that you don't see.

Lose the DEX rings, especially since you're a Mithra, focus on STR. Your natural DEX more than compensates for not having DEX rings.

For your head piece, get a Merc. Captain's Headgear (lvl 30). Use it until you get Walkure/Valkriye Mask.

Lose the night cloak, DRG SUCK at evasion as it is, the extra +evasion is worthless. Go for Wolf Mantle +1, or if you must, get the lvl 40 back armor (can't remember the name, but it gives a + to VIT and has a bit higher DEF).

The rest of your gear looks fine. If nothing else, and you only have 1 of the above suggestions to pick, GET THE HEADPIECE. You'll use it until the Walkure Mask, and can use it for promies and other level-capped areas (BCNM's, etc...).

^^ Agreed. Merc Captain's Helm is very nice, and +STR rings would be a better choice.

Also, if you can, pick up a Shikaree Ring and/or Venerer Ring.
Depending on the server, the Shikaree Ring might be cheap... and the Venerer Ring can be quested.
That'll give you another 5 ACC right there.

If you have any high level friends, you might be able to convince them to help get you Volan's Greaves.

Otherwise, gear looks good.

PS - Elanria : Cavalier's Mantle? DEF8, VIT+2, Eva -10?

No, was actually thinking of Earth Mantle (Lv. 40) Def: 6 VIT: 1 vs. Lightning 5 vs. Earth 5

Of course, the cavallier's mantle would also work, but I like having whatever resists I can get in my less-essential armor.

For the body, since you're Mithra, I would suggest the RSE body Savage Separates. Those give a nice HP and STR boost that'll last you for quite a while, up until you get either Jaridah Peti or Scorpion Harness (either works and is fine, but the Jaridah tends to be a lot cheaper than the SH).

Shikaree Ring is R/E and pretty easy to get since no one camps Stroper Chyme anymore

Shikaree Rings are real cheap, since they're Rare/EX. But 1 of those and a Venerers would be nice for TP build.

So replace the DEX rings for Acc & STR rings.

Every melee wants to eat Atk foods, but unless you have Acc+45 or more stick to Sushis.

Who cares if you do 200dmg a swing if you can't hit it? ^^

Shikaree rings are just EX not Rare/EX, thats why you can have two equipped. The drop rate is still awful, so don't get too frustrated with the chymes.

You might also try for Jaeger Ring, if you know a few SMN40s. It has only 1 less acc than sniper or woodsman but without the major penalties those rings have (as well as being free). With that, battle gloves and acc bonus you really shouldn't have any significant acc problems unless you're fighting beetles without a dispeller or something crazy like that.

IMO as a mithra dragoon, you can get really sick critical hit rates in the lower levels with +dex gear, but you'll need to be geared up like a thief for it to work well.

I would switch the +dex rings out for +str, use a Merc capt's headband thingy. A venerer ring should be a fairly cheap decent +acc ring for you to get. I think I would recommend either the Ogygos's bracelets at level 40, or the Enky bracelets at level 50, they are pretty comparable so use your own judgement on which to get. Ogygos's are much cheaper and are only 2 less str than the Enky bracelets if gil is a concern.

I think I would go with a wolf mantle+1, never know when that +elemental protection will come in handy, and there really isn't anything that's so much better until you get an Amemet mantle anyway.

If you can get a Jaegar ring, more power to you, that's sadly out of my reach for the moment :/

Nothing really comes to mind as to what you should have, you've got a pretty decent gear setup. Since you have a sniper ring waiting for you to hit level 40 with that's pretty much one of the major hurdles to get across.
