Dark Knight ?tion

I need a little help on deciding on the right kind of DK for me. I was originally gonna do DK/Thief but I heard Thiefs got downgraded.....is that a good combination still or not? I also am thinking about DK/WAR, but if it was your choice which one would you go with? Also, which race would you choose for either of these combos? Thanks alot,

Oy, DRK is, IMO, one of the hardest classes to pick a sub for at this particular point in FFXI. They were having a big debate about it in the importer forum ... >_<
Honestly I think now's not the time to decide. Let it all pan out first, and things will be simpler. :)

I, for one, don't see Dark Knight/Warrior as a good combination, because you surely want it because of Taunt no? Dark Knight already draws tons of hate from monsters, doesn't really need Taunt, plus Taunting the monster when he's not attacking you will get you low health fast because of low defense.

Having Paladin as sub would allow for less damage and more defense, plus the use of some healing magic (Don't tell me you'll be cast-interrupted, you won't if you know your business)

Having Monk as sub allows for more HP overall and better dex and defense than a DRK/WAR would have (+43 HP, -2 str, +1 dex, +3 vit than warrior at Level 50/25)

Having White Mage as sub is sometimes regarded as foolish for the loss in attack power it has, let me show you the differences with DRK/WAR ->
(-38 HP, +54 MP, -3 str, -2 dex, = vit, -1 agi, +1 int, +4 mnd, +1 chr)

Plus now you can heal yourself great, solo or not, this removes weight from healers who tend to be entirely on DRKs because of their lower defense and fast HP drop.

Take in mind those stats are before any equipment is put on, before any food is eaten.

Anyway those are just suggestions, you can be anything, DRK/THF didn't get nerfed so much I heard...
