low level brd gear

what is some good gear i should be looking for as a low lvl brd? Is there any chr+ gear i should have around lvl 16ish?

At level 16, there most important eq are your instruments (make sure you have the necessary +2 song instruments). You really won't be singing a big variety of songs as you'll mostly just be doing madrigal+minuet.

Um, some +CHR items you can get at that level would be the Bird Whistle (HP+5, CHR+3) [you can wait off a few levels and get the Flower Necklace (CHR+3) instead for a lot cheaper], Noble's Ribbon (CHR+3), and Hope Rings (CHR+2). More luxury items are Monster Signa@17, Mary's Horn, and Garrison Tunic@18. But you won't be worrying too much about monster resists at that level (as you don't have elegy yet and lullaby would be just in emergency situations), so don't kill yourself over getting as much CHR as you can. You could try getting more +MP items in replacement as well.

I'm about to start my bard myself, but i'm finishing up my WHM sub to 36-38ish. I was curious which places and lvls that Mary's Horn will infact come in handy for lvling (when a group really wants the bard to pull). I just see myself having a hard time throwing down 600,000 gil at the moment for it. However, I have no problem spending money on this job, I already have bought Monster Signa.

The Entrancing Ribbon is a decent piece to use if you can't get a Noble's Ribbon or from 11-14 if you do get the Noble's. It drops from a rabbit nm in East Sarutabaruta

I was curious which places and lvls that Mary's Horn will infact come in handy for lvling (when a group really wants the bard to pull). Sell the Signa and use it to pay for Mary's Horn. Seriously. Monster Signa is a status symbol, not a useful tool. Mary's Horn, on the other hand, is your lifeline when things go bad. Signa will just sit there and look pretty when you're face down and KO'd. ;)

Woot. I just got Pilgrim's Wand. Pretty much isn't replaced till 51 I assume. Really bums me that Bards cannot wear Seer's gear. Oh well, at least I can use Baron's slops.

Not that BRD gets much of an opportunity to rest for MP, but you know, when you do it's awesome!^^

Definitely agree with Icemage re: Mary's Horn > Monster Signa. That + to Lullaby is going to come in handy a heck of a lot more often then the CHR on the Signa.

Get some CHR rings, a ribbon, and if you can afford it, a Garrison Tunica at 18. You'll be good to go for a while on most of that stuff. Just switch it out for higher DEF gear later on.^^

Doh, didn't notice till right now that BRD cannot use Pilgrim's Wand. Oh well, still have it for my whm and future classes.

Also, Garrison Tunica is around 200k gil on my server. For only +1chr, that's kind of a strech. But I guess people who have excess cash have their reasonings.. as in, not many other items to use in body slot. I'll prob end up using some of my WHM gear and new gear to start with.. Priest's Robe, Friar's Robe, Mist Silk Cloak, etc. I'll look into the CHR items into more detail once my WHM is 37 ^^

I love how I end up taking my subjob equip quality pretty high. 24 MND, +4mp healing at 32.
