Non Lottery Spawn NMs

I have the WORST luck trying to get these lottery spawn NMs. I still don't have the Leaping Boots or Empress Hairpin, but not for lack of trying. I just don't have the patience or the jobs (THF, RNG) to do it.

I was wondering if anyone had any good Non Lottery Spawn NMs to recommend. The one I do know about, Geyser Lizard, I have had some luck with. If you could post the location, conditions for the NM to appear and the drop I would love to give them a try. Its such a large task to go through all the NM Databases to find these types of NMs that I thought asking here would be more productive.

Unfortuneately, most of the item pop NMs require a group(Weeping Willow & Lumberjack) or are Rare/EX (Mycrophile/Yara Ma Yha Who). Goblin Arechologist is an odd NM, it always has a ??? somewhere but it pops based on how many people where trying to spawn it.

For sellable drops... None come to mind really... Sorry.

Most of the really good NMs, (translated as: NMs that drop something you'd actually want to sell), are lottery spawns. Or else they have a really long spawn time. Wasn't Lumberjack considered an HNM? Nuked the holy crap out of my party when we went after him while farming liches, if I remember right.

There are a few others that are non lotto. The one I can think of most easily is Maltha in Inner Horototo Ruins. He's like a 180 min pop. Drops a rare/ex RNG tunic for lvl 16 or 18. It looks like harvesting gear, lol.

Generally, any NM you'd actually want to hunt, or have a chance of claiming before a GSbot or horde of other players jump it are all lotto. Lizzy and Emperor are considered, (wrongly), vital for certain jobs that everyone levels. Nearly everyone has a THF or NIN to sub later on, making these two items far more camped than they probably should be. On the other hand, if you want something like a Fungus Hat from Tumbling Truffle, you can pretty much camp that guy all day and not see a soul.

Oh yeah, if you're lower level, check out Eye Mong Ironbreaker and Zhu Buxu the Silent in Giddeus. Silent drops the Ex Parana Shield, which is a nice little round shield for lower levels. Ironbreaker gives you the "Ironbreaker" title when you kill him, and drops the Aspir Knife, an item that sounds fantastic until you actually read the jobs that can use it.

I am not really interested in getting super valuable drops or anything, just want to have one more avenue of this game to explore. I like the challenge of an NM but just don't have any luck camping the more popluar, lottery spawn ones.

I did some research myself and decided to camp Bomb King and the Doppleganger's this weekend. Didn't get any of the drops but it was still alot of fun!

Yeah, cardians are kinda fun when you get to battle them. Parties don't like them because the one decent camp for them requires a lot of clearing of EPs to get to, and then you've gotta break the room. Although, a cheap source of light and fire crystals at lower levels never hurt anyone.

Oh hey, while you're already in the Saruta-baruta region, check out Sharp Eared Ropipi in East Saruta, (Spiny Spipi is also here, but rarely uncamped), and Tom Tit Tat and Nuyununc in West Saruta Baruta. Tom's got Fruit Punches for MNK, Ropipi has a nice BRD/BST ribbon, and Nu's got the Pilgrim's Wand which rocks for mages almost to 50+. Rarely see them camped on Diabolos anymore, so it's easily worth looking into.

Bomb king and the 2 dopplegangers have worthless drop rates. I'm 0/100 for bomb king and tend to go 1/15-20 per doppleganger drop. Give spipi a shot he's easy to claim.
Vuu Pugu in giddeus is another easy one to get. Everyone camps Hoo mjuu so it is fairly easy to get the spawn. Bird whistle has a 10k to 50k range depending on where you sell it.
If your going to ever pick up ranger I'd say go give Maltha a shot. It drops an /ex lvl 16 rng tunic.
I used to farm all of the "non" poison hands nm's in devoi to make most of my gil. Unfortunatly the market on seraph has turned sour. May not be the case on your server. I used to be able to get 50k to 75k for a tiger axe with in an hour of posting it on the ah or in my bazaar.
There's also Ash maker in yughott grottho. It drops a hermits wand and priest robes ( seldom robes, maybe 1/20 drop) It only has about 5 orc place holders in a small area and is easy to keep contained.
While there, if your just doing nm's to do nm's ( which sad enough is what I do) give thousand arms and both wallbreachers a shot. Lantern shield offers +5 to attack. ( have a quick pull method set as it can be camped by gs from time to time)
I'm not sure if any of these ideas help. Just thought I'd post what has worked for me on my server. I will say that if your going to go into the nm drop for profit market check all the cities ah's before you go after what you want. It maybe worth the trip sometimes if you get a whistle in giddeus that goes for 20k in jeuno but 50k in basty or sandy.:thumbsup:

Weeping Willow isn't an HNM, and it's rather soloable. It's killing weeping willow that gets your ass handed to you... by Lumberjack.

I was pretty bored and was killing time watching Harry Potter. Someone in my linkshell asks to be power leveled, so I said, why the hell not. I go to bastok, set myself to autofollow and cure him while I'm watching harry potter. Before you know it, I see "Leaping Lizzy {Found it!}" I look at my screen, and lo and behold, the 8 drk that I was powerleveling was able to claimed it by a ranged attack. o.O

He realizes he doesn't have a chance in hell to kill it, so he invites me and I take it down in 3 hits. No drop though :(

And another instance! One time, I was heading to Giddeus to hunt huu. There was nobody in the camp location, so I thought that he had already been claimed. A minute later, Huu pops right in front of me, I claim. No drop though :(

Seems NM's love getting claimed by me. They just won't drop jack for me. (Was 1/13 on Mysticmaker Profbilx)

I tell you one Lot pop is irritating me and it's no where near being a high end nm.
Carnero, which drops Katayama Ichimonji a lvl 10 sam katana. I'm trying to get it for my galka for when I get him up to where I can unlock sam on him.
No matter what I do I can not get this stupid sheep to pop. I'v killed every sheep on the hill 300 times and still no pop. I'v focused on just the pop region, still no pop. I'v brought a rng friend with and we...umm he cleared the hill more then once. Still no pop.
This is the first lot pop I have not been able to get and it is frustrating me.

For those looking to score the emporer, I'll give you a little info. Right near the beach where he pops you'll see four palm trees in a square formation. Around these trees are flys of course. Now, if you face the water and have all four trees in front of you, you'll notice that out of the four trees, the right tree closest to the water, only has one fly near it while the others will have multiple or none.

If you're lucky enough to be the only person in the area...kill this fly, over and over and don't touch the other flys.

Some people from my LS killed Carmine Dobsonflies last night. Short, but fun fight with 5 SMN; we got lucky on drops and got 5 rings and 6 sallets (some of which were lost because people already had them). All their drops are rare/ex but they're pretty useful (except the bandanna which is only good for THF, RNG, NIN and COR that don't want to spring for an emp hairpin).

It's a 40 cap zone and requires some Promathia missions to get to, but once you do get there it's not that hard to get to the flies.

In response to your opening statement, all I would say is this:

Get /RNG and do some research on the mystical 'Place-holder Method'.

Getting the claim on both of these NMs is really quite easy and stress-free.

(The drop-rates really aren't that bad, comparitively at least.)

Camped the Morion Worm a few hours ago. Got the claim and drop all withing 20 mins. Was fun and easy. Thanks, great suggestion!

I got that stupid sheep at last. A guy on my friend list got the pop so I waited about 40 minutes. Went back and sure enough there it was.

Now I can go back to hunting for a "profitable" pop-nm. All of devois save for poison hands have been hit by the mass farmers. Unfortunatly on Seraph any way you have 5 to 6 people all in the same ls camping poison hands most of the time. :(

Bonnacon in Ulegurand Range isn't bad. I camp that on my NIN/WHM and farm Buffalo Hides and Meats for decent gil. Drop rate on Cure Clogs are kinda iffy for some people but I'm 2/10 on them.

Plus, if you know someone with high leathercraft, they can take the buff. hides and make them into skins for ya for a decent profit.

I checked up on the Mycrophile over the weekend and found out:

The spawn point is easily accesible via Jugner.
The cuffs dont drop if you dont have a mage in your party.
The cuffs are only for Sum, Blm and Whm.

He sure likes to use Virus a lot too.

I soloed him as DRG and went 1/1 or 1/2 so the 2nd part isn't necessarily true.

For a couple other NM options you can try the first map of KRT.

Spook is still camped pretty heavily but he can be a decent earner if you're fast. Crypt Ghost is rarely camped and has an ok drop rate. He'll pop pretty regularly if you kill the PHs. In between you can chest hunt for Battle Gloves.

I just found 2 more great non-lottery spawn NMs, although you only have to fight one of them since the drop is the same:

Bendigeit Vran and Haty

These guys pop at night in Konschtat Highlands , only during a full moon (Haty) or new moon (Vran). Drop is the Roestugin (ranged weapon for NIN, THF, and BLU). Drop rate is 100%.

Widscan is almost required, as the pop area is huge. I was on chocobo widescanning the area around H-6,7,and 8. Just to be safe I searched even further out, which as a good idea as he poped in F-8! Anyway I had alot of fun plus I got a new toy for my BLU!!
