Well, I am confused, I thought the parade gorget's latent effect was refresh? According to mysterytour it's regen, if someone could clear that up it'd be much appreciated ^^

But anywho, do paladins need refresh in parties lvl 65+ still? You have auto refresh 1mp/3seconds, you can get sanction refresh (activates at 3/4 mp for 1mp/3seconds) So that is now 2mp/3s, which is only 1mp/3s less than the standard rdm refresh you would normally be getting. Toss in a parade gorget (assuming refresh effect) and you have refresh equivilant to a red mage's.
I like my paladin tanks, but finding a refresher just for them has been getting harder and harder of late, and it would be nice to know if I could just grab some other job instead of a brd or rdm.
Also, I haven't heard, how hard is the fight for the parade gorget and should I expect a paladin to be wearing one? (assuming refresh effect and not regen)
As far as refreshing goes, rely on your auto-refresh and sanction. Usually, any party that you will get invited into during this level will have a refresher in it, so it's not really your responsibility to get shittons of refresh, though it is your prerogative if you wish to do so.
edit: Trust me. You're always gonna want to have a refresher job in the party. Not only does it assist you, but it also helps the other mages jobs in the party and makes for much quicker xp.
What kind of equip is that gorget? I'm not finding it on alla.

I asked the same question about the latent and it seems it's Refresh indeed.
For Neck there aren't many useful pieces for PLD from what I've seen, if you want to improve you hit rate for WS Chivalrous Chain is nice, if you want some added def you can use a Medieval Collar, an IM gorget, a Shield Torque or something like that.
DS gorget +1 is kinda nice and Jewelled collar +1 looks also nice for mobs that like casting. Fortitude torque look nice for the +VIT and sword skill, but by that lvl you can get your VIT +45 or something without troubles so I dunno if it's even worth it.
But if you don't need any defense/offense from that slot, and you are having MP troubles then the Refresh from Parade would be nice.

I should clarify that I am not a paladin, unless dragoons have gotton alot more def/vit+ gear :P
But a standard party setup for me is like:
Me (drg)
Tank (pld or nin, pld preferred)
Puller/SC partner (thf or sam, sometimes drk)
Main healer (whm)
Hard hitter (blm, smn, or rng, mage preferred for MB on SC)
Refresher/generic DD/whatever
I can get the other jobs, but it is really hard to find a refresher of late, and it'd be nice to pickup say, a blue mage or a summoner instead of a refresher, or get any other job thats LFG.
I'm just very used to the mindset of a paladin needing a refresher, a whm can do without, especially if there is another mage who can help backup heal while doing other things (like smn)
So I wanted to ask the paladins if they could tank now without refresh from a bard or red mage 65+ :)
I'm sure they could....all it would mean is more downtime between fights if you only have a whm. (from my experience at least)

Oh, I see now.
It really depends on the PLD and WHM combo, if they can work together to keep the MP at a good lvl then your don't need a Refresher.
I've only been in a few parties without Refresh (around lvl 65 too), but most didn't work because the main healer didn't like the idea of main healing (nope, I'm not kidding this time  ).
As a PLD when I don't have Refresh it means most of the Curing if not all will be handled by the WHM, with me just keeping hate with Flash, Voke and Abilities (and of course the ocasional Cure if I think I have enough MP for it).
This is the part that some WHM's don't like because they kinda don't know how to conserve MP, for instance they don't know what's the total amount of HP they are getting out of a Regen, nor they know how to get the PLD to a proper lvl of HP and then have enough time to rest between fights.
And that's the part where I start hearing about how with other jobs they don't have to heal or worry about how to get the most out of their MP used and resting periods.
But when you have a WHM who knows how to use their MP and works with you rather than complain, that's when you don't even notice you don't have Refresh.
Now, the same can be said about PLDs, if the PLD doesn't know how to work with the WHM, and just plays like he has Refresh on, then downtime can get really bad because of the PLD.
So, it's not that one job has more responsability than the other, but that both Tank and Healer have to coordinate and pay attention to what they are doing, which now even more than ever before is too much to ask from new spoiled players. /shrug

It's a refresh effect, but only active when you have 85% or more of your max base HP + visible HP bonuses from gear. Typically it stops working after one or two hits so it isn't very good for tanking.

I agree with Maju. I don't think I would use it full time. I would use Shield Torque and macro in Parade Gorget in between pulls.

IMHO, it depends on your party members' skill and tactic, mob + camp and how much exp per hour you are expecting.
For those party without rdm/brd/cor, if your PLD use a Dark Staff while resting, at least give the PLD one tick of mp from Dark Staff (20 mp) before pulling mob back to camp.
Choose your mob wisely. In general, the faster the mob dies, the less mp need for curing, the more time for your mp user rest between battles without breaking the exp. chain.
Make sure your party members aware of the party's limitation without refresh. If any of your member expect an easy ride without refresh, well, you can imagine what will happen. Some players are not prepared (cookies, dark staff, juices, Aspir, V. cloak, etc).

heh also agree with Davitron3000 and Maju I get it to wear in town, farm with it, and between pulls.
Plds and whms will always fight like bro and sis (or however you see it, I have sis and well its ugly fights sometime) but at few moments whms and plds will get along do the best and those pts will rip across waitin on mp and hate management.
I most likly keep the IM gorget since its been with me a long time lol unless something really good comes along lol

I seem to find a hard time getting a party as a RDM. Can I move to your server? 64 RDM. :p
/sea all RDM 63-66
Your search returned 22 results.
Me: :(

I sometimes wonder if /SMN auto-refresh can stack with PLD auto-refresh. You know, it might seem kinda of hokey as a PLD/SMN, but with avatar buffs and if those auto-refreshses stack, I guess that would be an alternative.
But the answer to your question is usually a no. It's not just the PLD, but the other mages too. Sure, it's possible if you have a COR in your PT with mage rolls and who doesn't bust the rolls often (like this one COR) and if your mages in PT are all wearing VC-like equipment or can swap those kinds of things in, but on a typical average PT - no.

Actually I'm curious about pld/blu, you might be able to get auto refresh from that, cocoon would be a sick +def move to have (+50%def) and I don't know what else a /blu could use.
I'm not too familiar with the corsair job, what do the mage rolls do?
And thanks for all of the replies^^ They have been very helpful.
EDIT:
Typed /blm instead of /blu ^^;

Here's Armando's Thread (http://www.ffxionline.com/forums/paladin/61010-pld-blu-early-testing-theories.html), good reading. :)

Parade Gorget is nice, but it doesn't work very well for exp. That's mainly because of the >85% max HP requirement that has stated. It's good for maybe a few ticks of MP between pulls if you're sitting at a high enough HP.
Sanction refresh sucks unless you've won enough Besieged. The less wins you have since getting the Candy back, the lower the %max MP that it will activate.
On the note of the Parade Gorget latent requirement, has anyone else noticed that the +10 MP is also part of the latent? I don't know why, but it is. The +10 MP isn't even listed under the latent.

Your right on the pld/smn doesn't lol. tried in a besiged as lvl 61 pld/smn to try out see what I can do. It was vs. the Mamool had Garuda cast blink on me and few others and that one NM one that does 4k hit killed me like I was a lvl 1 whm . got raised and ran out of there and basically I had nice mp (this was before update).
Speaking of besiged anybody been to one after the update and saw the inventory O_O;; I used some nice potions that increased my HP and MP lol (sorry to go off topic)

Now I heard rumors on the latent that it uses the base HP before all the armor goes on and all the additonal hp from food etc. I am just was curious if it was really true, I tried to get a pt or friends to help but with the event now I have to wait till I actually find people.

i personally am i galka pld. and at lv66 i barely broke 100mp. but with a refresher on top of auto refresh and sanction refresh, i can keep hate like no tomorrow. its good to be able to cure yourself multiple times within a battle, as well as flash and provoke of course, and i can do all of those with ease with refresh of some sort. but also refresh cuts my downtime since in maybe 5 ticks at most i have enough mp to flash a mob already, and i do half if not more of the curing to myself. so exp can roll pretty quickly with refresher, even if extra DD is not present. i tried to get my hands on a parade gorget. and me and a lv71 war can kill it, but we had to use our 2hrs on the first one, the second kill we wisened up lol, but im sure that with that as well, i could be a sufficient tank and indeed, that 6th member could be a DD. i would very much like to be able to do this myself >.< gotta get that gorget.
