This is something I've wondered about, and I think I know the answer, but I just want to know for sure.
When a WHM casts a tele, does the MP required vary depending on how far away the crag is your teleporting to? Like a {Teleport-dem} from Aht-Urghan Whitegate, for example.

A teleport is just like any other spell, it has a set mp cost.

Ok, that's what I thought, but I was confused why someone will offer 1k for a teleport-mea from jeuno, but 3-4k for a teleport-mea from bastok or something.
Thanks for clearing this up. :]

Mea, Dem, and Holla all cost 75 MP per casting, while Vahlz, Altep, and Yhoat are 100 MP. Personally, I never understood why Vahlz was not next to the other five teleport spells when you auto arrange. Bugs me to hell, for some reason, even though I hardly ever go to my Ctrl M for magic. *is OCD*

This is because there are quite a few more WHM in Jeuno than there are, on average, in the three starting cities. Also, I know of no WHM who stay solely in Windy or Basty to Telewhore. As to people paying more for yhoat/Vahlz/Altep, it is solely because it is harder to get those scrolls.

That is a good point I'd never thought of.

That sums it up for a lot more than teles though XD.

Having done the telewhoring bit to try to raise much-needed gil, I can honestly say its all a case of supply and demand.
In 2 hours telewhoring in Bastok, I could get probably 8-10 teles per hour, the vast majority being to either Dem or Holla with people taking shortcuts to the dunes. On other occasions, I could shout for 20 minutes before even getting a paying customer.
In jeuno, its pretty much constant traffic - its very rare the telewhore even has to shout to announce their presence, there are so many people looking for different destinations.
Now if you were in that position, where would you pitch your camp? The starting cities are great if your aim is to help out the newbs, but to make reasonable gil, jeuno or whitegate are the only real options - spending 20 minutes of my playtime hanging around in case someone might want a tele-dem is not my idea of fun ...
Some JP were shouting for teleport Vahz for a while before I teleported him. That was a few months ago.
He then gave me 150gil.

Why are we still paying 2-3k a teleport when everything else has dropped so much? Kinda like how are electric company added a gas surcharge after Katrina hit us. Now that gas has gone down alot, they still charge the same rate.

That would have something to do with the fact that teleports were underpriced previously. I don't teletaxi anymore (and haven't for a very long time), but I don't see the sort of 8-10K offers nearly as often as before. 2-5K is typical, and is about where it ought to be IMO.
