What do you think is the best Expansion job!!!Just wants to see what the majority of people like since they have seen the new expansion pic's.

Lol, when I saw ninja at 100%, I was like, "Sweet!" But then I realized I was the first one to vote. Out of all of the new jobs, dragoon is probably the "best" stats wise, but I want to be a ninja. The cool armor, the dual wield, and awesome spells, they all seem awesome to me. Ninja is the coolest in my opinion (There are too many people wanting to be Dragoons, so I don't like that job anymore, it still rulz, just too many people picking it), but I've heard that their last spell or something is a self-destruct spell. I don't want my best spell to be one that kills me, so I might be a summoner, but still, I will get the ninja to lvl 65 first.

I think self destruct only brings you down to 1 HP, and not actually kills you, could be wrong though, forget if thats what i read or not.

And gosh, ALL the expansion jobs are pretty kick ass, if you ask me ALL the normal jobs are too, I dont see any bad jobs in FFXI.

I'm a big fan of Summoner, but I also like Dragoon for its little dragon. But I votes for Summoner anyway. I'm sure I'll try it sometime

I voted Samurai but Dragoon and ninja are cool as well.

You should have a "all of the above", since all of these expansion jobs are freaking awesome. The "all of the above" would get like 1000 votes.

Well if i were to change my mind due to population.... I would say Ninja because when I went trick or treating i would also be a ninja (my favorite was white wolf).... I mean every trick or treat i was a ninja lol......

Still i will be a dragoon.... the best dragoon that is.

That I am.

I like the idea of summoner being a pet class and not being super overpowered like they are in most FFs. Summoner gets my vote. Cant wait to send Ifrit into a large group of goblins and let him tear them to shreds muah!

I'm gonna go with Samurai because I like eastern swordsmans better than weastern. Why because...eastern just looks cooler. And because you don't see too many girl samurais running around either. Just to be different.

Summoner is getting way popular. I don't feel like dealing with competition either.

Dragoon....ughh they look cool..but I think they need a cape...and I don't like that job class that much.

Ninja...they are cool..I might sub my samurai with this job...or a monk..not quite sure.. ^-^

As a result of the discussion in the "ranger questions" thread, I'm going to say that Ninja is the most potentially appealing expansion job for me personally. Depending on more clarification of Ninja abilities, that is. Summoner, Dragoon, and Samurai are all amazing jobs, they're just not my style.
I'm really glad that Summons are in the game, though - they're just essential to the franchise. When I first heard of this game, I was like "How can they call that a Final Fantasy with no summons?" And I think we all kind of suspected all along that we would eventually get them. I guess Dragoons are kind of the same...

:)

Dragoon all the way!
I just love the idea of being the most heavily armored character that has the ability to deal out massive ammounts of damage every turn. Not to mention the fact that they look badass. I also wanna sub a thief so I can try out the backstab + jump combo on some unsuspecting monsters  High attack and agility are a deadly combonation.

I agree with you on the summoners whoever with the dragoon part I'm not so sure. Cause in the last few FF the dragoon class has been mixed with Knight and Blue Mage. I haven't seen a pure Dragoon before...well I have seen pictures of them from the older FF series. However which one is better the mixed ones or just plain Dragoon?

Are you serious! The dragoon made its apearance in FF IV (FF II in America) as Kain. Could be used as a Job in ff V, I don't think there was a dragoon in FF VI (FF III in America) but there was a relic item called dragon boots that gave you the jump ability. In ff VII Cid was a dragoon, there wasn't one in FF VIII, Freya was a dragoon in FF IX, Kimarhi was the dragoon in FF X, and there was a lancer job in tactics which counted as a dragoon, I think I got them all.

*points at sig* yeah it would be cool to be a dragoon but dont feel like increassing the Dragoon population to a million. no what i am saying. Samurai for me. Since Samuaris are good with two handed swords and bows i wonder if a Ranger would be a good sub job:p

Hmm, I added that comment because it seems like so many people are going just nuts over the addition of their favorite old school job. They all seem to think dragoons are essential FF material. I admit, though, that it's one of the jobs that's become a bit muddled as to abilities in more recent FF's.

Keeping the pure classes separate is good idea in my books. If this new dragoon class had had blue mage abilities (like most recent dragoon, Kimahri :( ), then there wouldn't be any chance of there being a separate blue mage class in the future. As it is, we might end up seeing other old classes come around eventually (blue mage, dancer, geomancer...), since they're keeping to their old trademarks for the most part.

Oh, I just thought - was Freya considered a "pure" dragoon?:)

I think the entire concept of summons is just great. It's always been my favorite class, since I began playing FF.

The other jobs are fine, but just stands out as the best, and definately the most unique. Flashy, too. ^_^"

Freya I'm not so sure...they keep calling her Dragon Knight...isn't that a dragoon? She has the jump ability...and she also has white mage skills...which I find interesting. I liked her skill cherry blossom ^-^"

I think in ther american release we are gonna see alot of Dragoon and Samurai, i am hopeing we will see more caster......actually we NEED more caster let me count this out

Casting Types (and mostly casting types)

White Mage
Black Mage
Red Mage
Summoner
Bard

Melee/Missile Types (and mostly of the sort...added missile since there is essencially only 1 of that class)

Warrior
Thief
Monk
Knight
Dark Knight
Beast Tamer (yeah i suppose this counts)
Ranger
Dragoon
Ninja
Samurai

wow thats twice as many non-caster types then caster types. If they one day include Blue Mage, i think this might help even it just a bit (then again casting types are the most powerful in game, so they have to limit them of course, but Blue Mage wont overpower anyone...its just if they decide to program it or not)

I have come out from my "Fortress of Solitude" after many weeks to reply to this. I LOVE Dragoons.

And now for something I feel I must correct.

Are you serious! The dragoon made its apearance in FF IV (FF II in America) as Kain. Actually the Dragoon's debut appearance was FF2 for the Famicom, now recently re-released on FFOrigins. There was only one living Dragoon in that game and his name was Richard, or Gareth (Thats what they call him now in FFO. Why? I have no idea... Maybe becuase it's shorter?) However, although he was called a Dragoon, he could neither Jump nor did he use a Spear. He used a Sword and Shield(wich isn't too bad, since Kain could use a Sword and Shield too).

The first appearance of a TRUE Dragoon was FF3. It was one of the many classes you could obtain in that game and that version of Dragoon could use Jump and fought only with Spears. Sadly, FF3 has still yet to be officially released in the US.

Well, thats my history lesson. Thanks for reading.

Yeah you beat me to that i was about to mention that Kain was not the first oh well. Any way Dragoon is great they will probably have pretty good armor better than a drk possible a warrior but of course worse than a Pally but he will probably do really good damage. Oh and a side note Kain from FFIV could even use a shield when he was using a spear but i think they wanted to make Dragoon spears heavy attack and took away their shields in later games.

Well I've been put to shame :( oh well, I wish I played the first three so I would have known that.

from wat i've read...if u have thief as sub, u can't use the backstab attack....

Are you sure? I htought the only ability you couldnt use is the jobs 2 hour ability wehen its subbed, and the thiefs 2 hour ability is perfect evasion isnt it? I'm not saying you're wrong, I just hope you are, I was looking forward to using that combo.

I have to say its not exactly right calling it "The" 2 hour ability, as in some instance there might be more than a single 2 hour-ability (I think Bard does), its the Level 1 ability (aka Super Ability)

I voted Dragoon. It's always been my favorite.

TheNinja's Self-Destruct is actually a very good ability under the right circumstances - specifically, with a good WHM or three around, right at the end of the battle ... or, if you're soloing and want to go home, just find a Land Worm or something and POOF! dead, no exp loss, dezone, and hey! You're back. Although I hope the animation does not actually have the Ninja **exploding** - that wouldn't be very Ninja-like ... hopefully it looks more like (pardon the strange example) Shiek in Ocarina of Time when she disappears with the Deku Nut trick. :spin: Yee-ah!

i voted for samurai! i always wanted to be samurai and use japanese sword.

i think the reason why we don't see many samurai is cuz the quest is pretty hard compared to dragoon's quest.
on my server, i usually see almost 100 dragoons, but only 20 samurais.

I picked Dragoon because being a summoner would be too easy, because they "pwn joo!" Dragoon would be cool, no matter what.

No matter what, if they were a summoner in any FF, they rocked.

I can hardly wait to be a summoner. Hopefully, the popularity of it will die down a bit with time, and people won't actually stick with it to the point that "the market is saturated" with summoners. I plan on following it really seriously.

Dragoon Is Second
And Ninja Third for Its Stealth
