Once in awhile Ive been asked to sub Thf and perform either TA or SATA from behind the tank. Of course when you end up in a party where the other guy with Provoke does not comply, you'll be forced to TA + WS behind the tank in the beginning to make the hate stick. I dont see a lot of damage from it though but does the hate really add up on the tank? The reason why is that I see the mob's attention going elsewhere sometimes.

yeah, it does.

TA + any attack = added hate to whoever you're behind.

I believe.

it does, unless you screw it up or miss. TA has a very small angle of where you can be unlike SA.

Remember that TA simply transfers that hit's hate. If your WS does weak damage, you won't transfer much hate to the tank.

i believe when using THF as support job TA will only transfer hate and won't do any additional DMG.
try TA+WS mid-fight or after the first provoke by 15 or more seconds and you'll notice a difference with hate (unless you have Enmity down equipment).

LOL you used trick attack (Lv30 Ability) at lv38 Sam/thf and did 350-460..hax I tells ya. You must have sata'd (presuming your a thief who just cant read the topic title, then look at the forum its in and put 2 and 2 together.) cause I aint never seen/done a 350-460 TA on an IT exp mob and Ive ta'd alot, mithra too.

i believe when using THF as support job TA will only transfer hate and won't do any additional DMG.This is correct. There are no modifiers for Sneak Attack or Trick Attack when they are from your sub.

Sneak Attack (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Sneak_Attack)
Trick Attack (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Trick_Attack)

Sneak Attack has a DEX modifier if you're main job is THF, and Trick Attack has an AGI modifier if you're main job is THF. If you sub THF, Sneak Attack gives you a critical hit, and Trick Attack only passes the hate from the next attack onto the person you're standing behind. If you are only doing a TA+WS you CAN miss.

What I would like to test, or see somebody test, would be Overwhelm + TA + WS damage. Would Overwhelm help make up for the lose of SA? Or would it just be better to sub WAR for Berserk and the lot.

...

Seriously, why make things worse by posting that when tbh already posted links to trick attack showing its lv30.

With your knowledge of the game and the quality of your equips I wouldnt be surprised if you buy gil and support the RMT. Either that or your entire account. Thanks for the insult.

trick attack is lvl 15 u dufus lvl 30 is sataWrong, and right. Trick Attack (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Trick_Attack) is Lv.30, and that's why SATA is Lv.30. Sneak Attack (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Sneak_Attack) is at Lv.15.

and one more thing as a 47 sam/thf i do around 340-522 trick attack depending on my tp, and just in case u think im joking u should try it, with the gear i have and the food i use, empress, bounding boots, okote, lvl 45 body armor that gives dex+. 2 str rings with str +3, 2 attack + earrings, the necklace that gives dex n str, leg amor lvl 44 that gives dex, lvl 44 gkt, and ricedumplins, some of the name of the gear i use i dont know the names so i just say what they do, also i use the sword belt that gives att+10, n normally i dont do t.a until about 230+ and i use tachi enpi, any more q, just askAt Lv.45, having access to Sneak Attack is nice because it make sure you don't miss your WS if you stay behind the mob, and it can put out some really nice numbers. But WAR sub can do those same numbers, just not with the regularity that Sneak Attack can provide. All Great Katana WS's have a STR modifier, if I'm not mistaking, so loading up on STR before WS can increase your WS numbers significantly. At Lv.45 I load up on STR+18 from gear, STR+5 from Sushi, and I'm Elvaan so that's a pretty decent amount of STR for WS. I've done 400's with /WAR, and I've also done 400's with /THF while in Phomiuna Aqueducts on a Subligar run.

/THF will insure you actually land your WS, and makes it a critical hit for the 1st hit of the WS, and can do quite a bit of damage. But you do not have have Trick Attack at Lv.47 SAM, and Trick Attack does not modifier damage in anyway unless you are a THF main job.

Thf sub usually wins when my ws fails me but they can only do those numbers once every 1minute. I can do it every 15-20s which is more DoT.

this was written on a thread on this web site,

Re: New Thief

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I Sub'd RNG up to Lv.15. I was trying to do anything I could contribute to the party's damage. Then Lv.15 and Sneak Attack Fast Blade tried it's best to get my killed! Either way I was having a ton of fun! Keep it up. Took me forever to actually get to Lv.15, I solo'd most of it because I felt like a EXP leech.

I just haven't come across it.

I plan to use SAM AF1 (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Magoroku) for the STR until Koryukagemitsu (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Koryukagemitsu) or a Soboro (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Soboro_Sukehiro). From talking to a few Lv.75 SAMs, replacing AF1 at Lv.44 with the Mikazuki (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Mikazuki) wouldn't hurt, but is by no means necessary. So I plan to swing my AF1 until Lv.50, and replace it with at the very least the Koryukagemitsu, and if I have the Soboro I can use it in certain instances.

whats the stats on the Koryukagemitsu, i might have over looked atthat one, oh and sorry if i cant go look at the links for info, im using a gov pc, n this is the only site i can acces the have any ff11 info on it

Koryukagemitsu has a DPS of almost 9, and STR +1 Accuracy +2 on top of it. So the Acc doesn't hurt, but isn't going to break the bank, nor will that STR+1, but when stacked up with other gear it can help. I've heard a few SAMs really rave about this GKT, and at one point it was nearly 2M, thankfully now it's just under 300k. Now that it's affordable, I plan to pick one up when the time comes.

On another note, the GKT just looks sweet. It looks longer than other GKTs and the hilt doesn't look half bad either. ^^

Look on Somepage (http://ffxi.somepage.com) for DPS.

DPS stands for Damager Per Second (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Damage_Per_Second).

Koryukagemitsu (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Koryukagemitsu) is an ENM (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/ENM) drop.
