temporary chest???

yes when u first start out and are only able to hold 30 items, i "know" there is a temporary chest of sorts that holds items past the 30 item limit. now i haven't seen anything on how to access that temporary chest to take the items out. i also know that the temporary chest has a time limit to hold items, and once the time has expired the items are gone. can anyone please tell me how to access it if it exists?
