Upgrade?

Hey all, I've been thinking on trying pup out and was wondering about the update frames you can get at lvl 10, 20, and 30. I know what each one does but do i really need to get the frames or could i just leave my pup the way it is, buy attachments, and be fine?

The upgrade frames change the base functions of your puppet. The valor edge was has some more defense and hp, the mage one has more mp, less hp, and the melee one has better attack.

It is better to use the new frames with attachments that suit them, than using hte base model.
