View Full Version : Would it be possible to tweak the Empathy message a bit?

As a dragoon I have always been frustrated that mobs could debuff my wyvern all day long if they wanted, but I had no way of buffing him outside of items like the Gargoyle Boots (which is a whole nightmare on its own).

When the recent update added Empathy I was pretty happy with the ability to give my wyvern a buff. However, unless I am missing something due to filters, there is no way currently to know which buff he receives.

Would it be possible to adjust the Empathy message in order to state which effect, or effects at level 2 and 3, are transferred to the wyvern?

I've read in a couple places that Empathy gives the wyvern the most recent buff you received with the exception of buffs the wyvern already has and those which do not transfer. If I were to ask something of S-E for Empathy, I've read that food will not transfer. Could we please share our food with our wyvern? Is it really so horrible that the wyvern have a buff that hasn't actually worn out by the time Spirit Link is available again? Besides, with dishes that increase HP, solo would be a mildly more acceptable option.

Also, are effects the wyvern already has excluded? So once you transfer your protect, shell and food (if food is transferable), you'll have a better chance of getting Berserk or Haste on subsequent spirit links (for the rest of the half hour)?

Hmm... I wonder if a DRG/SAM can meditate and immediately spirit link while meditate is still active... That's one case where it would be pretty easy to tell which effect the wyvern received, if it worked.

Signet, Sanction, Deodorize, Sneak and Invisible seem like they would have no effect on wyverns (except sanction regen?). Are they also excluded from the list of eligible effects?

P.S. As far as food is concerned, I think any food eaten while the wyvern is present should automatically be shared with it. Come on, who isn't going to give their wyvern a nibble... :)

Transferring food effects would be pretty cool.

All tests done with only one point into Empathy.

When you SL and give your wyvern a buff this is what you should know:
The buff will wear from you and your wyvern at the same time, you do get a message when wyvern loses the buff (IF you were the person to cast the buff) but not when it get it.
So if you have 5 sec left of berserk and use SL you and wyvern will lose it 5 sec later.

AF+1 hat DO NOTHING for Empathy. <.< Was hoping for 1 more buff while wearing it.

It seems that wyvern will gain the first X effect(s) from the left in your list (upper left corner).

ex.
Protect + Regen (No buff active) = Wyvern take Protect (Protect is to the left.)
Protect + Regen (Wyvern has protect buff) = Wyvern take regen instead.

So it seems it take good spells from the left, if it has it already it take next buff instead.

Empathy transfers one buff per merit, so with 3 merits in Empathy you transfer three buffs in one go.
