Hallihallo

I was wondering if a Galka Samurai level 48 could outdamage a Tarutaru Thief level 57 only with normal attacks.

Tarutaru Weapon: Venom Knife = DMG 19 Delay 195
Galka Weapon:Uchigatana = DMG 24 Delay 420

The Galka has no Subjob and the Tarutaru has WHM as subjob.

nah.

You really need to specify more though. What gear are they using? Is the taru naked and the galka wearing all damage gear? What's their weapon skill at? etc etc.

In an ordinary case, I don't think it's possible, however if it's situational depending on gear, it might be possible.

NomidoInteresting question, but I would say it's possible.

THF's would do about 10~20dmg a dagger, Criticals can be pretty high, and if we're including SATA in this equations that would added 200~400dmg depending on mob type.

As Elvaan SAM, I usually land 55dmg a hit w/o Berserk using AF1 at Lv.45. I have a pretty fair amount of Atk+ gear, but a Galka wouldn't be far off. A THF gets Triple Attack at Lv.55, so a THF/WHM could do 10~60dmg a volley. SATA would push THF over the top with damage, but base melee damage there might not be much of a difference. SAM could pull it off, but the THF could too.

Interesting question, why do you ask?

Maybe it could happen in a hit by hit basis, but damage over time would be way more on the THF's side.

Against anything close to the THF's level, then the answer is definitely not. Level difference plays a large role in determining damage.

Against enemies that are Easy Prey or lower to the Samurai, then the answer is "maybe". Great Katanas have nice base damage, so on a hit-per-hit basis you're going to have an advantage over a THF using a dagger of any type, but bear in mind the thief is going to attack much, much more often than the Samurai due to much lower weapon delay and Triple Attack.

no. the thf will out attack you and their criticals will be higher due to the fact that whatever mob you fight, their level difference will always be higher than yours.

add SATA, WS and DoT, you will lose out. There will be the odd chance that you might beat him on 1 or 2 attacks but dont count on anything spectacular.

Status bolts too. Sleep bolt > Go behind > SA = ouchie.
