Let's see. Keyboard-mashed names, EXPing with level one equipment in Yuhtunga Jungle, could these be...hmm, let's see.... RMT?

Seriously, this is my first time I've seen the "brand new" RMT. I believe they were all being PLed by someone. Even worse, no one said anything about these mysterious /anon Lv.1 geared guys with keyboard-mashed names--despite the fact that there were five other EXP parties clogging the area. I was there for two hours waiting for a group, and I kept my eyes on these guys. Just wow....I can predict an even bigger Christmas Sale this year. What's even worse is that I logged on right on top of these guys...

there is even more in ragnarok, i've seen them leveling and in less than a month i saw them doing Dynamis-San'doria as 16BLM (or more) 3NIN 3WHM and few RDMs.
oh huh... some of these Keyboard-mashed are camping areas 24/7 even boting , i've made many GM calls on boters but /sigh as always ... GMs are good for nothing.

LMAO think thats bad i seen them in kuftal tunnels in lvl 1-10 gear for mages, the melee were in tad bit better gear. So i decided to welcome them to the zone with the NM Wyvern. i trained i tto the zone, an watched them all get whiped, when they raised i did it again.

Every server has these. In most of the regular exp zones. There isn't much you can do about it, so just go on your merry way and try not to let it ruin your enjoyment of the game.

Or something. But yeah, there is a startling number of them these days.

Sorry to be such a barhumbug, but whether RMT or not you PMK'd them, twice, they only need to report you to a GM and you'd get banend for goign against the rules. Fighting in Kuftal with low level gear is not against the rules and until they sell money or sell the account they are not breaking any rules in the GM's eyes. Yes were pissed off with all the RMT's, but what happens if a normaly player walked into zone after you brought the NM there and died, hey ahve done nothing wrong, yet you have caused them problems, possible delevel etc. You can't take out your frustration that way as teh GM's will just grab you by your short and culies and throw you in jail as until money gets passed from those characters to a gill buyer or character buyer, in the Terms of service they have done nothing wrong.

Sometimes my paranoia kicks in, and I wonder if they are trying to take over every server. Like some sort of invasion of the body snatchers. I swear, if I see my model running around, I turn around and walk the other way. I'm just saying.

I went to Uleguerand Range the other day for cop mission, i didnt know i had to drop down a hole to reach the mission point, so i happened to go all around the area, its a huge circular glacier, with lots of dangerous stuff all the way, i reached a point where i found 6 black mages and a white mage, anon, full AFs, crappy gear other than that, like BLM using lvl 10 wands.. also no linkshells. They were exping on buffalos. A bit ahead i found nothing less than a full alliance of BLM, with the same configurations in terms of gear, and killing buffalos aswell, and also getting magic agro from snolls around the area like the nubs they are.

I felt a deep rage in me, i just wanted something heavy to drop on their faces ><

Last time I checked on Asura they had taken over both CN and Kuftal. They are hardly the most talented of players, probably due to the fact that only one or two guys are controlling the five or six characters.

/sigh that reminds me........ must buy level 60 drk gear before the christmas sale kicks in.

Problem is, S-E is seemingly useless at enforcing its own rules and as such RMT have no fear of reprisals. Hell, some of the recent changes implemented by S-E have made it even easier for them to ply their trade. Whereas before you could MPK serious offenders good old S-E came along and changed that. I'm waiting for Ziero to come rolling on in now and exclaim you can't prove these were RMT. Probably just a bunch of friends who're learning the game in their Dunes gear while being PL'd by some random stranger out of the kindness of his heart who has taken a break from camping Mee Deggi 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

That's as blatant as it gets.

Aren't they all part of that "get your character PL'ed to level 70 in x-weeks" thing you see for sale on some of the sites? That's a lot of potential nubs ready to be released on the world...

So was there any reason to make things personal?

Seriously, the 'bad' changes SE made prevent you from getting MPKed by these 'bad people' too. It seems you're sad that you can't break any rule you want anymore, which is a good thing IMO. People who willingly MPKed others for whatever reason are just as bad, if not worse, then gil sellers. You're both breaking the rules and causing grief to other players so in the end there is no difference.

As for SE 'not doing their jobs', prices on *EVERYTHING* are the lowest they have been in YEARS. I don't know about you, but that tells me that SE did something right. Many of the new gear released acts as viable alternatives to older 'must have' gear and are far simpler to obtain. Many of these new items can even be obtained free of gil costs by using a small amount of effort. Things before last christmas were already bad, nearly twice as bad as things are now. Gil is also more expensive then ever before, for whatever reason. If these two trends continue then we won't see the horrid inflation we saw last year. And if that happens that means SE did do it's job.

You can't ever remove all RMT from an MMORPG. It just isn't possible, especially the way FFXI was built. But you can limit the desire for it through proper planning in terms of equipment and item availibility, two things SE has been taking full advantage of. So ignore these lil noob RMT, there's nothing in the rules about being a gimp and that's all they've seem to have done so far. They're a minor nussiance as of now as their affect on the economy has been severly hindered. As long as prices keep dropping, good gear is easy to obtain and large amounts of gil become harder to obtain then they will slowly die off.

But don't think for a second that you have *any* right whatsoever to go above and beyond the ToS when it suits your need. Doing that just means that you're no better then any RMT/botter/hacker.

That's because no one ever listens to my ideas about handling RMT. :vent:

I say, we give all players the /anvil command and do what this (http://
www.rabidlab.com/games/dta/demo.html) does. Just replace the rarib with suspected RMT. Heck, anyone in fact.

Suspected botters... /anvil

Suspected RMT groups... /anvil

Person who randomly AFKs unannounced in the middle of a chain... /anvil

A-hats, jerks, scrappings off the bottom of the gene pool... /anvil

P.S. Watch out... it's an addictive little thing... looks up at the sky.

You : Wtf.
Dudes#10,93,25 Shout: lol/anvil
Dude#1 : /anvil You
You : WTF.
Dudes#friends of Dude#1 : /anvil You
------ Mordion Gaol --------
You : WTF
[GM]Lolsroyce : U = BAN
You : but...
[GM]Lolsroyce : {I dont speak any English}
You : Omg
[GM]Lolsroyce : {Good bye}

"They're just players with more time to play than you.."

This constant remark being made over and over is starting to get annoying. Just think about it, Players pay RMT sites for game support. Things like PLing, gil, items, accounts, etc. Then RMT pays SE for the enormous amount of characters/accounts they are using. Is SE in some sort of financial crises? Is FFXI a game anymore? You can't take a coin and say it's a flat head screwdriver. That's not what a coin is designed for. But a person could avoid paying $5.99 for a real screwdriver and pay only 5 cents for a nickle...

Although, a matter of that degree is of minor concern to the larger world. But for something like FFXI, that's of notable concern. SE should be immersed in far more monthly fees income than originally planned. So, why not reduce the monthly fees? Oh wait, you wouldn't ever -want- to so long as it's making you filthy rich, right?

Though everyone says there isn't anything wrong with what's going on, that makes it okay to disregard ethical issues? Just look at the FFXI user agreement on their official website. They forbid gambling but people in-game on all servers are doing it anyway. No one ever complains about it and no one ever cares to make a sound or report it. The player(s) involved go untouched by SE law.

But, when RMT PTs, players, groups come out... people suddenly speak up. Suddenly there's a voice that needs to be heard. But wait, there's nothing in the user agreement specifiying some forbading or proceedure in handling this. You also don't have proof they are using those characters to sell game money for real money. Now what? FFXI community is willing to accept gambling but not this?

I don't know what server Shippo is on, but there is a Reboon in an I'm in LS on Ramuh. I've had my suspicions about him since he is always /anon and always in a PT and almost always in Kuftal, and never says a word or responds to anyone. To the point where its a joke that Reboon will never talk to you. I will have to talk to some sackholders...

I assume by gambling, you mean people running casinos in Jeuno? Gambling and RMT are in different leagues entirely. The reason no one ever mentions gambling is that it's pretty much a non-issue. It only affects individuals who are idiotic enough to trade all their gil to the casino runners.

Casinos are pretty much dead now anyways, but even if a stray one pops up, it's as easy as blisting them and moving on. Unfortunately, as we all know, RMT affects all of us in a major way, and isn't as easily vanquished.
