Hello.

Currently I use this chart (http://yarrthepirate.com/FFXI/Info/skillcap-chart.gif) when referencing skill caps for any jobs. It's basically a concise version of this data (http://www.ausystem.org/%7Eaushacho/gbox/ff/skill-e.html). It's great but a little outdated. That is, it does not contain the skill caps for any of the 3 new jobs. I plan on updating the slimmer version with skillcaps from new jobs. Unfortunately, I don't know the skillcaps for any of the new jobs.

What I need is blue numbers from the following categories:
Hand-to-Hand
Dagger
Sword
Great Sword
Axe
Great Axe
Scythe
Spear
Katana
Great Katana
Club
Staff
Archery
Marksmanship
Throwing
Guard
Evasion
Shield
Parrying
Divine Magic
Healing Magic
Enhancing Magic
Enfeebling Magic
Elemental Magic
Dark Magic
Singing
Stringed Instrument
Wind Instrument
Ninjutsu
Summoning Magic
Blue Magic

Please also list the levels of your main and sub jobs. Please do not have any gear equipped when you check your numbers, as this can skew the results.

Who I need it from:
-Corsairs who are level 61 and up who do not have any merits in the categories they are reporting.

Who I do NOT need it from:
-Corsairs who are between level 1 and 60.
-Players who have Corsair as their subjob.

If the category does not appear at all, please DO report that.

Thank you all in advance. :handsdown

You can save yourself some time by going to the Japanese version of the site you listed:

http://www.ausystem.org/%7Eaushacho/gbox/ff/skill.html

That site has the current skillcaps for all jobs (including the TAU expansion jobs) as well as some updated stuff like BLM scythe rating.

For the record, COR's skill ratings are...

Dagger: B+
Marksmanship: B
Sword: B-
Throwing: C
Evasion: D
Parrying: A-*

COR has no native skill in any other category (yes, this means that COR is the only job in the game without native Club skill).

*note: the creator of the skillcap webpage stopped using the term "A-" and just calls it "A", but using your terminology, COR's Parrying would be A-

Thank you very much. I'm not sure why he dropped the "A-" and went to "A" when the 2 are very different (i.e., 7 skill levels at 75).

EDIT: Never mind. Instead of A- and A+ it's just A and A+.

I think he dropped it because there are no skillcaps in-between "A+" and "A-" (i.e. what would have been the old "A") in the game.

Okay, got the chart straightened out. Forgive the poor quality. I'm at work and I reproduced the original from scratch using Excel, Word, and Microsoft Office Photo Manager. lol

Please understand that my original post (or variations thereof) was posted in three forums: COR, PUP, and BLU. This was because I was requesting information from Lv61+ CORs, PUPs, and BLUs because I wanted to make a new skillcap chart.

Well, I found the information I was looking for and made the new chart, so my replying to the thread with said information in said chart was my way of providing closure to each thread. It was not an attempt to "spam" the forums or anything of the sort.

Yes, what we need is less posting of useful data and more "which subjob is the best?" or "am I gimped if I don't have [item]?" threads.

<_< Its a generally accepted fact that if you add the words "Or else" on the end of a sentence, you are implying that something of a less than savory nature will happen to the person the sentence is directed at if they do not comply with the demands of said sentence.

In other words, a threat.

I think he dropped it because there are no skillcaps in-between "A+" and "A-" (i.e. what would have been the old "A") in the game.

The reason why he started using "A and A+" instead of "A- and A" was because the Vana'diel World Report (Ver. 050224), the famous brick-size guide released in Japan, uses the terms "A" and "A+." This book is released by the publishing department within s-e, and by far considered the most "official" book in Japan.

I see. I just Googled the book and was unable to find an English-language version. Oh well.

and we probably never will. unless a miracle happens, SE is not going to release a EN version here (the question was asked at the Fan Festival).

3 releases of World Reports before Ver. 050224 were released by the company called Digicube. Digicube was originally established by former Squre back in 1996 as a company to provide entertainment softwares (games, music CD's, etc.) through convenience stores, such as Seven-Eleven, and other companies like former Enix, Capcom, and Namco later co-funded it.

Digicube wasn't doing very well, and it was liquidated in 2003 (formaly, they filled bankrupcy w/ the Tokyo district court) when Square and Enix merged, and its publishing business was absorbed by the publishing department of the new company.

I can't say for certain, but seeing what happened, it's easy to imagine that their publishing department is basically a Digicube's publishing business continued under the different company name. Considering the fact that Digicube was operating only in Japan, their business doesn't concern US and EU markets, so unless they decide to widen their markets, it will be almost impossible for you to have an English version of it.

Personally, I think it will sell quite well if they release one in English though.

The creator of the website last updated the English version of the page on January 11, 2004. He last updated the Japanese version of the page on June 22, 2006.

The English page had some skillcaps that weren't known. For example, if the creator of the website couldn't find a 61+ MNK with Guard skill capped, there would be no telling if MNK had an A or an A+ in Guard.

Additionally, the English page had no Scythe skill for BLM and no listing for skillcaps of the expansion jobs.

While we're on the subject:

Is there any person who speaks fluent Japanese that could talk to the owner of that website and convince him to update the English page? It's practically the standard, even for EN players.

Seeing for how long he hasn't updated the English page of the site, I don't think it's easy to convince him to do so now. It's probably a lot easier to find someone willing to just translate the page, while I don't see a need for that as what Dryhus posted pretty much suffices.

to the OP,

thanks, this is the first cap-chart I've seen. Now I can see how much I can cap a skill before changing a job.
