I just had this problem where when I log in to FFXI right after I log in the screen goes Blue and tells me there's an error. Now I had to restart my computer and I tried logging into it again. It worked perfectly and I stayed on for a few hours and logged off. I tried again yesterday and the same thing happened. Except after I restarted my computer it gave me the message "Windows has recovered from a serious error." And said it might have to do with a driver. Can you help me?

Edit: In case this needs to be known. I have Nividia Geforce 5200 fx series.

Could be a lot of things.

- Is this a new problem, or have you always had this issue?
- Have you recently installed/reinstalled/removed any software?
- Have you recently installed/reinstalled/removed any hardware?
- Have you checked your Windows event log to see if there's a traceable error?
- Have you scanned your hard drive for errors or defects?

It would be helpful to know what sort of processor and how much/type of RAM you're using too.

For checking your Disk for errors Right Click on your Hard drive and go to the Tools menu and Do the Error checking.

Controal Panel/Administrative tools/Event Viewer
To read the log of errors.

Also has this happened during any other games or applications?

And after its all said and done you should also defragment your hard drive do this at night or when you are at work it takes a loooong time to compleat.

Also try Start menu Programs/Accessories/System tools and Disk Clean Up This could help speed up your access times.

To access your system application event log in Windows XP:

Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > Application

You're looking for any item with a yellow "!" or red "X" icon. Those are generated by Windows into this log whenever it detects that something unusual and possibly bad has happened with a running program.

Take a look at that log and see if you see any yellow or red icons within the past few days.

Yeah you need to check what the error log has to say because unfortunatlly The blue screen of death comes up for numerous reasons.

- hard drive is going
- other hardware is going
- windows update screwed something up
- overheating due to poor air cycle, dust an dirt.
- virus or spyware damaged a file.

The list goes on, but if you do what ice mage is saying, hopefully you can spot an error that is causing this. an hopefully ice or i can help you work it out. but then again you most likely might get away with a role back.

I think I might have fixed the problem. I went to FFXI config and saw that my settings had return to default. I put it back to my settings and I've logged in about 4-6 times and I've had no problems. = D
