Well if any of you have read my other posts on other boards and stuff, you know that I am a returning player after 2 years. I didn't come back for the new jobs, I came back because an irl friend wanted me to so ya. I used to be a bard and I really liked the job. Now that i come back and discover Corsair, I really want to play the job. It is the only one I have yet to unlock out of the 3 new jobs, but I really do want to main it probably. However my friend worns me that the new jobs are meant for players who are already high levels, and since I came back I had to start over again. What do you think? Is it wise to try and main COR when I don't already have a job on a high level already?

If you have gilz and can level subs for it, then np.

i just got to lvl 30 and the new jobs came out, i now hav them all and im not gimped in any... though gill would help ^^ but thats the same as any advanced job.
I don't see why not. If you can prepare appropriate subjobs for maining Corsair, and if you can have the money to support it, why not?

I'd say COR is one of the most expensive jobs. Could be more expensive then NIN in some respects. Our bullets are about 25k a stack and yu can go through abotu 3-4 stacks an hour, so it adds up. Plus to do good damge your going to need alot of RNG ACC gear which can get expensive. But yea, it's fun.

Ah ok thanks for the feedback guys, I'll just see what happens. Like I said before, armor shouldnt be a problem because my friend basically lets me use the things he is not using and he has pretty nice armor for rangers/corsairs. I guess I'll only be paying for bullets, but he's a good crafter maybe he can make them for me but idk. Thing I'm worried about is the AF. My friend told me you have to go through 3 coffers or something, thats why SE made it that hard because the 3 new jobs were meant for high levels or something. Is this true? Or is the AF just as gettable (I know I'm making that word up or something) as other AFs?

Yes, an NPC in bastok sells them for about 10k a stack if you have enough fame. If you don't have much fame, its more like 23k a stack.

Your friend, quite frankly, is full of crap. The ToA content - Assault, Besieged and the EXP zones are intended for players 50+. The ToA jobs are unlockable by anyone at level 30 and meant for anyone who wants to unlock them. Now, COR is a little harder than the other job quests, but not too hard if you have friends to watch your back and take care of the true sight mobs if they aggro.
I unlocked COR as a 37 WAR on my mithra. I did die a little, but still got the job.
If any of the jobs were meant for players that were already high level, I'd say that job was BLU, but only because to get all the possible spells, you'd need Sea access from CoP missions.

The old jobs required coffer hunting, the new jobs require craftable items and a 3 rl day wait to get all the pieces. Your lvl 40 weapon and two pieces of the set are questable just like all other jobs, and like all other jobs you'll need help to finish them.

You can get the Bronze Bullets and the level 21 bullets from NPC at a good cost. But after that the only way to get them is crafting. So AH only.
