Here are results for my plantings of Wildgrass seeds. I will keep updating as the plants become harvestable. I hope to see other people posting their Wildgrass results here as well, and eventuall evolve this thread into a nice little piece of research. Gardening is far too complicated and time-consuming to gather really concrete results, so the only way to do it is via hard-core statistical analysis which can take hideous amounts of time. All I'm really looking for is something similar to the format in the code box or any super/sub-set of that data you choose to collect even if it's just Crystal->Yield.
Elemental Bias for Wildgrass Seeds: Wind crystals cause Wildgrass to grow faster. Light and Dark crystals cause them to grow more slowly.
[EDIT: Never mind the table... FFXIOnline doesn't support any useful type of tabular format and Attachment capability is far too limited. Vanilla results only: Send me a PM if you want a pretty PDF/ODS file, please specify the format you would like and where you want it sent.]

Methinks thaey are plotting something... something Chocobo related. I'd hang onto this stuff until the personal Chocos are released (also a good time to stock up on riding gear ~.^)

The plants look just like bunches of greens. The flowers are pretty lame...they just stick out the top like when you let lettuce get too old before picking it... I believe it was stated in the patch notes that the new seeds/recipes were intentionally chocobo related. I don't know where I'm going to keep all this stuff until Aug. 22 when it might actually be in demand... These go into a bunch of new salads for young chocobos and such. I wasn't expecting such a huge yield... I'm thinking you'll probably have to feed your chocobo every day instead of fertilizing once every few days for plants. Since it's supposed to take what 90 days to raise a chocobo thats probably something on the order of 270 stacks of greens per chocobo (rough estimate 3 per salad, one salad per day), not counting the worm paste and other stuff the baby chocos eat. Since most people are going to be looking for a specific type of Chocobo, a lot of people will end up raising several chocobos. Wow.

Yes, but I haven't put them up since Somepage updated their recipe database:
http://ffxi.somepage.com/gardening/search.php?seed=Wildgrass%20Seeds
Things somepage doesn't have:
Fertilization on off-days lowers the yield of the most useful product in that crystal group. For instance, when I fertilized Earth off day, I got Little Worms and crystals (on Lightningsday) rather than Carrots. Similar results occured with Light and Dark crystals. Even when fertilizing on the proper day, it is difficult to get Cupid and Parasite worms. I have no idea how/if one can grow a Gregarious worm as yet. The most important results are in the table. Most of my new results are off-day fertilizations and resulted in, as I said, Little Worms, various rocks, crystals, and lots and lots of cabbage.
Thanks for the table. Rate up.

Very nice info, Sabaron!
From the information I've seen, the wildgrass seeds appear to be Earth aspected. So you can harvest any type of crystal except Earth Crystals. That might explain why feeding Wind Crystals makes it grow faster.
Do you mind if I and my husband add our results to the thread when we've harvested our wildgrass seeds?
edit: Just noticed (re-noticed?) you'd asked for others' results. We'll be happy to add to the "research" :)

Excellent. I'm running 10 Light Planted, Light/Light Fertilized, Light Harvested pots right now, looking to get an improved yield on cupid worms (Moon @ 52%). I'll post the yield when they're ready. I'm most interested in Carrots, Medicinal Grasses, and Worms, so that will be the direction of my research for the forseeable future.

Trying to harvest more Vomp Carrots, but it's difficult because the Earth Crystals give a high incidence of Little Worms. I got terrible results this time.

I tried to counteract the earthiness by planting and harvesting on Windsday, but I'm wondering if fertilizing on Lightsday gave the earth a boost. Next harvest, I'll fertilize on Windsday to see if I get similar results.

It has come to my attention from reading the wiki.ffxiclopedia.org (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org) Gardening pages that the highly prized, Gregarious Worm that, according to the Chocobo people at the stables, re-energizes your Chocobo comes from the "None" recipe. Therefore, my further experiments are going to focus on the production of worms over 15-20 pots. I think I'll probably keep at least 5 pots running carrots/medicinal greens, maybe more, so that might hamper my worm-growing efforts until the carrot/greens markets settle down into a stable mode.

It would seem youre over-watering your plants alot Nakti, thats why you get little worms... unless it means theres a change those worms would be special chocobo worms, but lucked out and got regular ones.
I check my plants 1x every 24 hours, only.

I was hoping that adding a bit of Wind element (hence, planting, feeding, and harvesting on Windsday) would help. Otherwise, I don't have a problem with getting "junk" harvests when I'm going for other wildgrass recipes.
I check my plants 1x every 24 hours, only. Me, too. ^^

...
I check my plants 1x every 24 hours, only...
My brother and I are not convinced that checking multiple times does anything. You can check a plant while D/Cing and get a "result", and there were not significant differences noticed between batches that were over-zealously checked (e.g. 100 times per day) or those that were minimally checked (1/24 hours or 1 per 2-3 days with Gardening MH). One gardening afficionado suggested that if it does anything it reduces yield, but there was no evidence presented toward that effect.
As is everything in gardening there is no magic formula. Everything is mostly random, but sometimes there are fussy little things you have to do to get a small probability of something cool. I tend to stick to the once every 24 rule of checking. I've also been prolonging crystal cycles using Gardening MH to see if dragging out the fertilization has an effect (not with wildgrass, though).

I haven't completely analyzed my Vomp Carrot harvests, but it seemed that the only dreadful harvest was when I fed the Earth Crystal on Lightsday. Even when I didn't get a lot of Vomp Carrots, I got other things (Lightning Crystals and Yellow Rocks) which I could sell to help make the harvest "profitable".
I'm switching to Zegham Carrots for my next batch. (Ice Crystal) I'm hoping I get some Sharug Greens, too. I'm rather low on them. :/

I use {code} and {/code} (use [ and ] in place of { and } ) to enclose the table and set the text to Courier New so I can edit it more easily. Tabs tend to mess things up so I don't use them. When I'm done, I preview my post so I can correct any errors that show up.

My husband got a super harvest of saplings from his cuttings when he harvested during the Full Moon. I'm going to try that for my next set of Wildgrass Seeds.
If I check my plants at the same time every day, in order to harvest between 90% Full Moon (waxing) and 95% Full Moon (waning) I need to plant my seeds between 67% Waning Gibbous and 52% Last Quarter (waning).

I haven't posted on this thread in a while; I've largely been discarding my results as the various recipes are widely available on the Internet, Nakti has been doing super with carrots, and no one cares about greens since they're more common than dirt. I've been working mostly with Cupid worms. Generally speaking, over the last 40 pots (2 20-pot runs) I've gotten two pots to pop worms. One of these was a Lightsday, off-moon (Waxing Crescent) run, the other was a Lightsday, Full Moon run--each 20 pot run yielded 1 pot with Cupids in it. I'll say with about 40% certainty at this time that the general yield rate on Cupid worms is about 5% on Lightsday (or 1 yield of Cupids per 20 pots). I don't have any concrete data on the number of worms per harvest, however. Somepage says 2-3 on Brass (which I'm predominantly using) but on these two runs I've gotten 4 worms each time.
I've just harvested 11 no-crystal pots (reported to yield Gregarious Worms) with 0 yields of Gregarious worms. I lost 9 pots b/c my main character does not have Moghancement: Gardening (he has Moghancement: Experience) and replanted. I'm waiting for them to come up to finish my first 20-pot run of no-crystal plants.
For the specific data here are some lines similar to the ones I made earlier:
Pots: 20 x Brass
City: Bastok
Planted: Lightsday (Waxing Crescent)
Fertilized: Light/Lightsday
Harvest: Lightsday (??)
Yield: 1 pot Cupid Worms (4) (all others Greens/Cabbage/Crystal/etc.)
Pots: 14 x Brass, 6 x Porcelain
City: 10 San d'Oria & 10 Bastok
Planted: Lightsday (Full)
Fertilized: Light/Lightsday
Harvest: Darksday (Waning Crescent)
Yield: 1 pot Cupid Worms (4) from a Bastokan Brass Pot (all others Greens/Cabbage/Crystal/etc.)
Pots: 1 x Earthen, 3 x Porcelain, 7 x Brass
City: 10 Windurst, 1 Bastok
Planted: Darksday (Full)
Fertilized: Unfertilized
Harvest: Darksday (Waning Crescent)
Yield: 0 pots Gregarious Worms (all others Greens/Cabbage/Crystal/etc.)

For what it's worth, I fertilized my last batch of Vomp Carrots on Earthsday and got a much better yield. Four pots yielded Vomp Carrots, three gave Lightning Crystals, one gave a yellow rock, and only two produced Little Worms. I got 32 carrots total, which is 2-3 times what I usually get.
Unfortunately, I don't have any other day or moon information for the crop. I generally plant, fertilize, and harvest whenever I'm in my mog house that day. Gardening results are so random and there are so many possible factors that I don't feel it's worth the effort to aggregate large amounts of information and plan my visits to town around the appropriate days anymore.

Well, I just finished my 20 pot Gregarious (no-crystal) run and here are the updated results:
Pots: 1 x Earthen, 3 x Porcelain, 16 x Brass
City: 10 Windurst, 10 Bastok
Planted: 11 x Darksday (Full), 9 x Darksday (Unknown Moon)
Fertilized: Unfertilized
Harvest: Darksday (Waning Crescent)
Yield: 1 pot Gregarious Worms from Bastokan Brass (all others Greens/Cabbage/Crystal/etc.)
The yield from the single Gregarious Worm harvest was but a single worm--just one worm over 20 pots.
Future: I'm doing Parasites next and on the first new moon after this harvest, I'll be continuing Gregarious experiments.

Update! Gregarious Worms afoot! Gregarious Worm (no-crystal) run #2, 20 pots.
For the specific data here are some lines similar to the ones I made earlier:
Data from previous run:
Pots: 1 x Earthen, 3 x Porcelain, 16 x Brass
City: 10 Windurst, 10 Bastok
Planted: 11 x Darksday (Full), 9 x Darksday (Unknown Moon)
Fertilized: Unfertilized
Harvest: Darksday (Waning Crescent)
Yield Rate: 1/20
Yield: 1 pot Gregarious Worms from Bastokan Brass (all others Greens/Cabbage/Crystal/etc.)
Yielding pot was Bastokan Brass and produces 1 Gregarious Worm
Pots: 1 x Earthen, 9 x Porcelain, 10 x Brass
City: 10 Windurst (Earthen, 3 x Porcelain), 10 San d'Oria (6 x Porcelain)
Planted: Darksday (Waning Crescent)
Fertilized: Unfertilized
Harvest: Lightningsday (Waning Crescent)
Yield Rate: 3/20
Yield: 3 pots Gregarious Worms (all others Greens/Cabbage/Crystal/etc.)
Yielding pot #1: San d'Orian Porcelain: 2 Gregarious worms
Yielding pot #2: San d'Orian Porcelain: 4 Gregarious worms
Yielding pot #3: Windurstian Porcelain: 4 Gregarious worms
Overall Yield Rate so far: 4/40 (10%)
It may be an interesting note that all the yielding pots on the second run were Porcelain. There is not enough data to form a solid correlation between Gregarious Worms and Porcelain pots at this time, however.

Anyway, I've still been tinkering with gardening, although less so since I've been working on the SMN mini-trials. I was trying to catalog the *exact* growing periods for Wildgrass Seeds and then I got busy with RL stuff and then I noticed my latest batch of seeds were taking much longer to mature.

It's not any more difficult (in my experience and according to the data I've put here) than either Parasite or Cupids. All 3 worms have roughly a 5-10% yield rate, but I'm currently giving a shaky reccomendation for Porcelain Pots (reccomendation for Gregarious Worms only)--a little bit of Wind energy. (Read back up the thread for more information on Gregarious Worms, Carrots, and the other products of Wildgrass).

Anyway, I've still been tinkering with gardening, although less so since I've been working on the SMN mini-trials. I was trying to catalog the *exact* growing periods for Wildgrass Seeds
Iv also been trying to get the exact times, This is what Iv concluded so far
For Vomp plant around 57%- (going down) to get a 70%+ yeild ~All done in Bastok
Sorry I didnt note the day I planted = / but
57%(-) Porclien
86%(-) Earth Crystal
81%(+) Harvested - 6 Vomp
From the times tested this Is what I came up with to get a 70%(+) for Vomp Carrots,
Also Tokopekko, Sharug, and Azouph seem to grow about this same speed as well, a friend sugguested I plant for gregarious around 88%(+) but turned out I couldnt harvest until 43%(-) = /
Thus Im trying right now planted 10%(-) for gregarious and plant around 25%(-) for Cupid
Hopefully adds some time for planting
