Sooo confused

So i picked up the game today. I got it all installed and set up. Trying to play it and i can not figure out for the life of me how to move about.

I went into the config area of the main menu, and in there is a section for assigning keys for movement. I checked to see what keys where what. Exit out of all of that. Hit the key for forward (E), and it opens up the chat window and types an E.

I can't seem to find any option to control the senstivity of the mouse, so when i try using the point and click method to move around I am all over the bloody place. And can barely walk in a straight line.

I must be a complete moron or something because i can't figure this out =(

You can select either Full or Compact keyboards. I *think* there's some sort of key reassignment that works with Full mode, but I use Compact mode, which I believe does not support any reassignments.

I rarely, if ever, use the mouse.

if you are on the comp, use the Arrows on the number pad to the side and the regular arrow keys for the view

that and the config section of my manual comprises about 10 lines, if that. And no where in there does it mention key configurations or anything else. =(

Do yourself a favour. Buy a joypad.

Alternativly if you insist on moving with the keyboard its the number pad.

There are two menus for assigning keys. The one you went into, with movement etc., only applies to Compact layout. The other, with commands like Ranged Attack, is for either layout, and you access these keys with Ctrl or Alt.

Under Full layout, anything you type will open the chat bar and start typing. Under Compact layout, you open the chat bar with space, slash, or the key combo for the chat mode you want (e.g., Ctrl-L for linkshell, Ctrl-P for party, etc.). Anything else is either a command (W for forward, H for heal, etc.) or nothing (by default, G does nothing).

If you're used to playing MMOs with a controller, feel free to pick one up. If you're used to PC games with, for example, WASD movement, you probably want Compact layout.
