Hang in there man, I didn't get a fun (Chatterbox) LS until i started partying in the dunnes. Yeah it gets pretty lonely out there by your self but it will get better.

Levels 1-10 are only temporary, in time they will pass, and you will be in parties, making friends and eventually getting a linkshell.

Hang in there, it's worth it.

The areas in the game as so huge that you wont be finding 10x people clogging your camp like you see on mainstream free RPGs, eventually you'll be forced to play together with others, and then you'll either love it or hate it ;P

Since you are so low you could consider switching servers - but in all honesty, if you dont have the patience to get from 1-10, then perhaps the game just isnt for you.

FFXI is so huge and jobs so varied that it is a matter of keeping yourself amused, not sulking because you cant get other people to do it for you.

As others have said, there are plenty of people in the first grouping areas such as Dunes that will be part of LS's, of course, if you are that upset, you could just set up your own.

Here's what you do, Ashady.

1.) Go into town.
2.) Type this: /sh "Ahem! Excuse me, everyone! I would like to formally introduce myself to you all as I am new to the game! If there is anyone out there that would invite me to join their linkshell, I would be very much obliged! I just want to make some friends, that's all. Send me a /tell if you wanna be my friend!"

That's exactly what I did as a level 1 WHM, literally 10-15 minutes of total playtime and I now have two linkshells. Now, I can switch linkshells whenever one gets boring.

You just gotta let people know you're out there and you're friendly, that's all.


Final Fantasy XI: Online has the best community, in my own experiance, out of any other MMORPG. For me, it's enough reason alone to play this game. WoW has the worst online community. The newbs are assholes, the 1337s are assholes, the mobs, the rogues, everyone. All assholes.

Its very hard to find a good linkshell, especially at the very low levels when you are new. You cant join in on much and no one can be bothered talking to you, or at least most people. Everyone goes through it, but you will find a few people or a linkshell that will take an interest. Getting a linkshell is a natural thing in this game.

I didnt have an urge to play either, I've had the game for 2 years and in the past 8 months I've played it more than I have in those two years. I played it on and off.

If you want, you can send me a /tell ingame, to "Standablaze" and I'll sort you out with a linkshell called Saturday. I've been in it for about 2 years and its the only one I've stuck with for those two years (and I've been in a lot of linkshells). Usually when you see people shouting asking for people to join their new linkshell, it doesnt last very long and no one uses it. You need an established linkshell to get the most out of it.
