HI im kyle, just went out n bought FFXI n was halfway through registering PlayOnline when it asked for credit card details, now do i need to play to use FFxi even tho ive bought the disks ect ect? if so how much £? thanks

Final Fantasy XI is a service. A fee of $12.95 USD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_dollar) is charged monthly for the first content ID, and $1.00 USD monthly for any additional content ID thereafter. In Europe, players are charged €12.95 EUR (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euro) or £8.99 GBP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pound_sterling) per month, with an extra €1.00 or £0.70 for additional content IDs. Each content ID can be used to create one character.

yes you need to pay to play. it says so on the box even.

monthly fee is $12.95 USD; convert to Euro or Pound at the current exchange rate.

Sorry, I don't know the price in pounds, but yes you do have to pay the monthly fee to play. You get 30 days free when you register, but you still need to provide a credit card number for that (when the 30 days are up they start billing that card automatically if you don't cancel beforehand).

It's $12.95/month US for the first character, and $1/month US for each additional character.
