I have been looking over the jobs for a long time now. I think I have finally decided on Corsair. I plan on starting out as a Thief, and was wondering if I should stick to Thief as a sub job throughtout my COR career, or sub RNG.

And please do not tell me to sub Ninja... I don't want to be a Pirate/Ninja. :P

(BTW I plan on making a Tarutaru if that effects anything.)

there are many threads in this forum on this subject.

but here something I posted in another thread

Sub RNG

Job Traits:

lvl 5: Alertness
lvl 10: Accuracy Bonus 1 - gives +10 Acc and about the same +R.Acc
lvl 15: Rapid Shot
lvl 20: Resist Poison
lvl 30: Accuracy Bonus 2 - gives +12 Acc and about the same +R.Acc stacks with AB1 for total +22 Acc ~22 R.Acc

Job Abilities:

lvl 1: Sharpshot
lvl 10: Scavenge
lvl 20: Camouflage
lvl 30: Barrage

Plus with gear like Beater's earring and Beater's Aspis I see /RNG as the intended COR sub and really the most practical.

I was partying with a cor/rng in the Garbage Shitidale. He was putting up nice numbers on regular shots and weaponskills. He had no problem keeping rolls up and skillchaining with the drk.

the common consensus seems to be /rng and /nin. /thf really doesn't seem to do much for COR

/rng for the lv. 30 latents, barrage, sharpshot and acquiring Slugshot @55
/nin for all around survivabilty and dual rng acc daggers.

I am going with /RNG. Although everyone says that. I love to use guns and try to rng/ or /rng anytime I can. RNG/RNG if possible... (Back to cleaning. Though I keep sitting here.)

Here's my thinking, feel free to comment:

I see alot of /nin and I'm begginning to think it has less to do with the best sub and more to do with it being the sub people already have levelled. I'm on Bahamut and I see around 50% /nin , 35%/RNG, and the rest split up between low lev /war and high lev /whm.

My question is simply is it worth levelling nin for cor, I'm at Cor 20 now and have taken nin to 10 so far, spent tons (time & gil) on getting Norg fame to get the scrolls (ouch). The more I read about the job (and I really enjoy it) I'm thinking it would be best to level rng (@1).

Whats the concensus here? Or should I go hardcore and levl both?

Thanks,
Jet

Rng is the best PT sub for Cor hands down. Nin at best gives +10 racc with the offhand archer ring, which /rng gets as a trait 4 lvls earlier, and shadows. Shadows seem to be the only thing /nin has over /rng, but very rarely will the Cor get hate in a decent pt.

Rng gives you Racc bonuses, Racc abilities, better gear options (beater's stuff), and barrage.

Thf isn't even an option, nothing thf gives helps a cor in pts. And seriously, do you want to be a pirate who does it from behind?

Ranger all the way. Nin isn't worth it fo sub of Corsair. Even pulling if you do it right you wont get hit.

/RNG if you like to see bullets connect with the mob's face.
/NIN if you're too lazy to level RNG.
/WHM if you're a closet BRD.

Thanks all for your comments, the funny thing is, I'll end up levelling both nin and rng now. Rng to sub for Cor, and Nin to sub for Rng sice that seems to be the preferred combo. Whoo-hoo 3 jobs to level :)

Be careful with that RNG sub, you may have so much fun you get carried away and take it well past subjob level. It happened to me, before I knew it I was 60.

I would say go with /rng. To be honest, I don't really see many benefits from /nin, other than pulling which Cor isn't great at (hence having high ass delay on those ranged weapons). So you can have Dual Archer's knives or what have you. Big deal. When you really look at it, /rng will give more accuracy anyway because of the buffs from subbing Rng ( I dont need to list them because so many people have done that already.) I am going with /rng and /whm (if people need it, I'm keeping my astrals handy) but I really rather not be /nin because I don't see any advantages whatsoever beyond shadows.

Since Corsairs can't use marksmanship til level 15 anyways, I would just sub something else besides RNG until then, because that would pretty much be pointless.

That's just my opinion, do as you please.
