I had been using Windower for a while, not only because it's nice to be able to actually window, but because my regular FFXI won't work. As soon as it goes into full-screen mode, it boots out:

"Terminated as an error occured in Final Fantasy XI. Failed to initialize Direct3D. Please check that computer has met specifications to run Final Fantasy XI.(-1)"

I know that the computer does meet the requirements, as I have played full screen before and it lets me run it on Windower. Anyone know what happening?

check drivers and make sure direct X is running ok (run DXDiag)

I have the same problem. Drivers are all updated and the Direct X tests were all successful. Re-installing the game will fix it for a short while. So windower is the only solution I've found. I've even tried emailing the ffxi support team, but they did not reply.

Tests returned suscessful for me to... I wonder if it will work if I run windower in fullscreen(oxymoron, I know, but it lets you do that XD) without crashing me from warputaru

Is your video card in the list of supported video cards that SE has on the playonline website?

Some stats about your video card, what driver you are using, and what version of DirectX your system says it's running (DXDiag will tell you). Do that and it'll give a start of what else to possibly try.
