There are suppost to be 32 new achievements for a total of 1000 points. I wonder what you'll get them for. Maybe I'll get one for unlocking subjobs on my new character. If I can find out they're for, it will get give me nice goals to aim for, I just hope they're not for these new merit things.
If you want to check, look in your FFXI section, not POL. This bothers me because the last time I played FFXI was the 23/04/06, it only counts as you playing POL on the 360.

They are there. I can check my xbox live account and I see all those 32 achievments in my profile.

Correct. These "achievements" are in no way official parts of the game. It's probably some fan run thing.
Double Post Edited:

Most 360 games have achievements that you unlock for completing sections of the game, you get points for doing so which is added to your gamercard. They are in all cases AFAIK seperate from other platform i.e. 360 Oblivion has them but the pc one did not.

I don't see any achievements in Live for FFXI or the POL Viewer. Unless I see that information on SE's site or xbox.com, I doubt there will be any.

The achievements don't show up if you check them from your 360, or at least they don't for me. I'm guessing the achievement list was put up by microsoft recently as a teaser or something. If they are going to be achievements, I'm pretty sure we'll need a new update.
It's MS's way of taunting SE for not using Live servers, of course =P

I went to the title changer and at the bottom of the options it says "unlock achievement" the NPC said I have no achievements to unlock. If anyone finds out which titles gives out the achievements please tell us. I swear if they're all Lv 75 titles I"ll be freaking annoyed! That just shows more biased towards Lv 75s!

Check out http://forums.xbox.com/5596260/ShowPost.aspx that topic and scroll down... someone got achievements for getting Rank 10, completing Promathia, getting PLD and BLM to 75, and getting a synth skill to 100.... Sandy, windy, bastok=3 + 18lvl 75 jobs=21, + crafting =22, +Promatha, Zilart, and Aht Urhgan? = 25 achievements someone said later on in the topic

I just unlocked mine:
30 Points for Windurst Rank 10
30 Points for Level 75 Red Mage
30 Points for Level 75 Black Mage
50 Points for Synthesis Level 100
Wierd thing is my highest craft is fishing and that's only level 48.

I imagine they'll have some kinks to work out of the system as they go. This is kind of new territory for SE.

I'm a little disapointed. I was hoping that you'd get them as you progressed from the start e.g. rank2+, unlocking subjob and passing each level cap quest. Still, it's better than nothing and I never played this game for them in the first place.

Considering many 360 players are new to the game altogether, I kind of agree. Would have been nice to have some low-level achievements as well. But this works too. ^^;

I got an achievement for having a craft over 100 too, yet I don't have any even above 60. I have a few crafts that would add up to 100, so I shrugged it off easily. But, my friend who owns a 360 tried to get the achievement too and didn't get anything at all. It's probably a glitch.

I'm pretty sure it's just "100 crafting levels" not "Crafting level 100". Same thing happened in my linkshell.
I'm very disappointed though... I played for 2 years, Bastok Rank 8, 2 jobs 60+ full artifact for both, LB1-4 done... and I don't qualify for any. I feel bad for all the new xbox live kids that already care about their "gamer score"
As of now, it seems (correct me if I'm wrong on the numbers)
18 achievements for new jobs
1 for beating RotZ
1 for beating CoP
1 for beating Aht Urhgan
1 for bastok rank 10
1 for Sany Rank 10
1 for Windy Rank 10
1 for 100 crafting levels
25/32. Hmmm...

It seems you're right. There is also one for beating Proto-Omega in Limbus and another for completing Dynamis Xarcabard. I think there might be some saved over for later additions.
What they could have done is something like:
9 for getting Ranks 2-10
1 for Rank 10 in two nations
1 for Rank 10 in three nations
1 for unlocking subjobs
1 for getting chocobo licenses
6 for doing the limit break quests and reaching lvl75
1 for reaching lvl37 on a second job
X for reaching a new rank in a craft (I don't know how many they are).
X for RoTz, CoP, Aht Urhgan missons, Limbus and Dynamis
X for things like multipull jobs at lvl75, high level craft, merits or AF
X reserved for future updates
I don't think there is a limit on how many achievements a game can have although the min is 5 and the points must add up to 1000. I know in my suggestion there would not be much for a long term player to aim for but they've not got much to aim for in the first place except for the misson achievments unless you want to lvl lots of job to lvl75.

Even though SE isn't going to listen to me because I'm not JP, I'm going to send them my views on these achievements. I know they won't go and suddenly change them because it will piss off all of the Lv 75 people but they should have done something for the lowbies.
Edit: Here is the email form I sent to SE, not like they'll read what I have to say though.
Hello, I would like to thank you for the achievements you have finally given to the Xbox 360 community. It makes me happy that we have finally can have goals to accomplish. However, I feel that some of these achievements are unfair to the new players of Final Fantasy XI and to those who do not have the time to spend countless hours to unlock some of these achievements.
Some of the achievements I refer to is to level all Jobs at level 75, get rank 10 for all nations and the end-game events such as Dynamis and Limbus. I can understand one should do so to strive the very best in Final Fantasy XI, but I feel that there should have been achievements that the new players and players who don't have the time to dedicate to Final Fantasy XI. Such achievements such as 'unlocking X Job" and "Complete X Job AF quests."
I myself do not know if completing X Job AF quests is one of the achievements since my highest Job is only a Lv 50 Ranger. Because of this, I feel that all the Achievement's goals you have set is meant exclusively for the level 75 players and that you have isolated a very good portion of your players.
Now I understand you can't change the achievements suddenly but I feel that I should say my view on the goals you have set. I wish as of this writing, you were thinking of the new players and those who do not have time to spend countless hours to play Final Fantasy XI.

Of course, if you start your views to them like that, I imagine they won't take you very seriously.

The base community of FFXI, from all the stories I hear. Anyways, that's just my view on how SE cares for their customers. JP > everyone else. I just would have liked they made achievements for the lowbies. I honestly doubt they're going to change the achievements in the next patch since it will upset all the level 75 players.

Lower Jeuno Bard.

Honestly... I think you're missing a big point.
1: No one else gets special acheivement badges for their Xbox Live score (PC/PS2 etc).
2: Special achievements are just that... special. What you're saying is reminiscent of SWG's badge system..
Oops, tripped up:- new badge, sneezed:- new badge, wiped nose:- new badge.
The badges had no meaning to them - you could literally gather badge after badge by accident. Getting to 75 for the first time is an acheivement, getting dressed in the morning isn't (or really shouldn't be).
And no - SE aren't biased against you Americans. They introduced something new for the Xbox (predominantly US - although I bet they did have a chuckle amongst themselves seeing how much carnage this would bring). Yes you have to work for it, but it's not things that anyone else hasn't had to work for either. Easy with the "NOW" attitude. These things will come to you in time - and you'll appreciate them for what they are - genuine acheivements, not for some watered down pat on the back for unlocking your subjob.

Because they're secret achievements, you won't be able to see what they are until you unlock them. Yea it's stupid I know.

I can gather achievement after achievement as they are now as well. The only difference is it takes a lot longer to get 18 jobs to lvl75 than 1 job. They're not special achievements just achievements, all xbox 360 games give them for progressing normally in the games with a few extra for completing secret objectives. FFXI's achievements are no different, I'll get to lvl75 eventually and I'll get 100 levels in crafting. The real difference is the amount time required to get the achievements.
Dymlos, AFAIK the only changes that can be made to achievements after they've been added is is the fix bug with them or add new ones but only if you have less the 1000 points, like GRAW I belive.

FFXI has never been an easy game when compared to other MMOs out there. I think the achievements mirror this quite well.

Well, I just checked if I could get the Crafting achievement because someone here mentioned you only had to have 100 levels cumulative between all your crafts to get it. This must have been a bug they fixed because I'm 60 Woodworking and 43 Cooking and was unable to get it.

You need to talk to the bard in the Lower Jeuno tavern then select the option to unlock the achievements.

Great resource, and yeah, looks like the FFXI achievements are true achievements in respect to difficulty to acquire. Personally, I love that. Because I can guarantee you you're gonna feel some sense of accomplishment getting any of them. Unlike some of the other 360 games that you just happen to stumble across an achievement cruising through the game.
